We need our best minds on this. I'm sure this has come up before.

I'm a programmer, but I have little experience with mobile apps or tying into a big server/database like webdip. But it definitely seems possible.

I would pay for it and I'm sure others would as well.

I think you wouldn't be able to charge for it, because of the Diplomacy name and board being a trademark. But a free app would be ok.

The one on there now costs money and is entitled The Game of Diplomacy.

If so then it's either illegally asking for money, or is a legitimate Hasbro backed game.

It looks like it uses the open source diplomacy thing that webDip and vDip uses.

Webdip works just fine on both my iFone and iPad. Why would anyone bother burning time on developing?

It works ok but an app could be really awesome. I honestly never considered the copyright so I guess the app wouldn't generate much revenue.

I don't like the current way the site works in Safari. The drop down system sucks (with that revolving thing) and it zooms in and out a lot. I'd like something with buttons instead of that stupid revolving thing

i HATE the zooming on safari. Plus for me it never shows the time left till the phase end unless you refresh and quickly look at the time left before it goes back to "now"

At least for the drop down system I can offer an alternative. Have a look at a new feature of vdiplomacy.com. Some variants like the Classic variant support an interactive map. It is not optimized for smart phones, but orders can be directly entered by simply tipping on the map, choosing order types via little buttons.

I am not sure if there will ever be an iOS app for webdip, because the software is designed as an web application and it works on smart phones (more or less). Why should somebody spend his time for developing an app which is not needed that much and not payed?

However, this app "The Game of Diplomacy" looks interesting. It seems to be somehow connected to the Facebook app which indeed uses the same code webdip does. But if you have to pay 2.99 the development probably was not that easy.
