God is causing global warming to punish humanity for abortions and gay marriage

God is not causing global warming as he does not exist. Man is causing it as he is too stupid not to! As for abortions and gay marriage I imagine that if god did exist he would be pretty cool about both and unlikely to understand what all the fuss is about

The world's been going downhill for about 2000 years ever since we got those Jesus freaks. How can a religion claim to be monotheistic when it starts splitting God into a trinity?

Some individuals can be clever and reasonable, but the more people gather in one place, the more the collective stupidity rises. And since there is this place called earth, crowded with quite a lot of people ... ... ...

So, yes, humanity is damned ... but I don't think abortions and gay marriage are causing this.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
22 Dec 13 UTC
Lol, humanity is damned... hilarious. We have 7+ billion and we're not slowing down. Rich corporate greed may be damned, but humanity as a whole is not in any trouble.

@bo - We are damned to extinction exactly because there are 7 billion of us and we don't show any sign of slowing our growth. We may well become too much for the planet to sustain and kill of every other species until we collapse in on ourselves and the cycle starts all over.
krellin (80 DX)

Arrogant humans...your sun is eventually going to burn out anyway. Stop pretending you can be immortal if you are just smart enough...you aren't.

But krellin, don't you know we are destined to develop interstellar travel and spread across the galaxy and then the universe and then become Gods?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Dec 13 UTC
Yes, Draug, the cycle will start over, a few million of us will live, and we'll change nothing because we don't know how to live any other way. Society as we know it will live on without trouble even if humanity drives itself toward a natural extinction. There may be some minor changes, but as a whole, we won't ever revert to hunter/gatherer societies, which is the only naturally sustainable way of human life.

Krellin, by the time the sun burns out, we'll be in the Alpha Centauri system. (Then again, that'll have burned out by then too, but you get the idea.)
Draugnar (0 DX)
23 Dec 13 UTC
@bo - No, none of us will live. Do you see any dinosaurs today? Specifically one of the giant carnivores? No. And whatever arises next won't be human. Homo sapiens is pretty much the end of the homo line. I doubt there will be a homo superior.

You can't run from Heat Death.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Dec 13 UTC
Draug, nothing has ever driven itself to extinction quite like we would in this hypothetical situation. A space rock ramming the Earth certainly doesn't apply as being driven to extinction by greed and self-enfatuation, so dinosaurs aren't at all relevant.

Lol, Abge, Heat Death is hopefully a long way away, much longer than the Sun going out.

This is in part why you are all so funny when you start going on about "destroying the planet" and such. We can change the planet....so can cockroaches...but we can't destroy it. Should we actually destroy ourselves 9doubtful) then something else will simply fill in the void. the evolutionists should love the idea. This desperate striving to freeze the earth in a current status quo is arrogance in the highest.
Draugnar (0 DX)
23 Dec 13 UTC
Agree with krellin. The earth and life will continue no matter what we do. It just depends on if she decides to reset herself and bring us along for the ride or not.

Not to be callous, but creatures go extinct all the time. Far more creatures went extinct before man ever looked at his reflection in a frozen lake and realized that pain on his face was a zit, and far more creatures will presumably go extinct after man ceases to be an influence (if such dire prediction ever comes to fruition...ewwwww.<shivers>...scary!!!).

Of course an intelligent and moral species would be a good steward of it's habitat...but if not...what's the big deal, really? One of two possibilities exist:

1. We are an accident of evolution, and a mistake in that we destroy ourselves, and therefore we'll go extinct by our own hand and the anti-creationists should be cheering at this prospect, or.

2. God designed it all, in which case you're going one of two places when the jig is up, and God will deal with you appropriately.

But all this fussing and screaming an finger-pointing about who's destroying the planet is soooooo boring. PARTICULARLY since those that scream the loudest have the *nasty* tendency to live *exactly* like those that they are screaming at...wasting fuel, living in housing beyond their requirements, eating more than their fair share, etc. A bunch of those loud screamers are burning energy on a fairly constant basis so they can remain logged on to webdip and yell at people. That's why I laugh at you and don't take you seriously.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
23 Dec 13 UTC
Are you asking people to cheer on imminent extinction, krellin? Sure, it's evolution, but the other thing evolutionism (is that a word?) preaches is that the point to life is to survive...

How unhealthy are crisps?
Just wondering, and I thought it would be a nice change of topic. If one stops eating crisps, will he/she be significantly more healthy? How about energetic, happy? Or less? And fat? Do crisps make you significantly fat? You webdippers probably have some interesting thoughts on this as well.
Just normal, ready salted crisps, for the sake of argument. Before people start bringing up their homemade moonshine crisps as an argument...

Diplomacy Who--Mirror, Mirror, On the Walll, Who's the Best Classic Doctor of All?
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=131817
Standard board with one quirk--countries get a number, 1 to 7...and you "speak" in the manner of the Doctor fitting your country's number. For instance, England #1 (Hartnell), France #2 (Troughton), Germany #3 (Pertwee), Italy #4 (Tom Baker...hooray!), Austria #5 (Davison), Russia #6 (Colin Baker), and Turkey #7 (McCoy.) So, grab your scarves, celery sticks, opera capes and rainbow coats, and let's go!
