You don't want to get into Star Trek, try getting into Oxford or Cambridge.

If you don't know Star Trek start with the movies. Those are pretty much all approachable for any one. Pick which series to start with based off of which set of movies you like better.

And skip Enterprise entirely. Better yet, just skip all of Star Trek and go read.

Honestly, I don't think Star Trek has aged well at all. It was great for what it was at the time, but if you missed it, there are so many better things to watch.

Yeah, I saw a pretty long Next Generation clip on Youtube the other day. Probably hadn't seen the show since it went off broadcast reruns years and years ago. Wow, does it age horribly. Everything that bugs people about the 1990s apart from grunge is encapsulated by that show.

If you want to get into Start Trek I'd start with Babylon 5.

Star Trek: The Next Generation was mostly how much can we recycle from the original series and make a worse show. They came up with some great ideas for the pilot and then dropped them for most of the first season.

Star Trek: Enterprise was lets use the name to get money to make a show. They kept going back and forth between using references to the other series with Dr. Daystrom as a young man, Eugenics War, formation of the Federation, and fighting the Klingons. Then the last season they decided to screw continuity and become an alternate universe series with original ideas .

If you want to watch the movies, then only watch the even number ones so you don't want to scream at how could they make this junk. Considering the money for each one they could have spent some on decent writers.

If you want to get into star trek then read the books, like everything else in life besides LOTR, the books are better then the show/movie.
