In a role madness setting, it's pretty great to have a powerless (as in no NK) yet powerful role. The FN and governor are two of my favorites as town leaders, though I have never played with both.

Yeah, with my vacation coming up the 21st (1 week without internet) I'm gonna need to step down. Since I want to be involved, mind if I become a third coach? I have a surprisingly good win rate.

June 15th is an OK start time for me. Not great, but I can manage. I'm house and dog sitting for a week starting on the 19th, though.

Just curious, when would the game start on the 15th? I have something that day (and the 16th) but I don't think it will be a big problem.

How is that different from a normal mafia member?

An adaption if dl's poisoner idea (for any of the factions): poisoner is allowed to either choose 1 person that they have poisoned to kill, or to choose 1 other person to poison. If someone is visited by the doctor at any time before being killed, they are healed.

I like the poison adaption.

You don't want the game to get too confusing. The game is about social interactions and deception/scum hunting, not about the procedures and roles. New roles help to shake things up, helping to throw people off of their normal game and maybe slip up. Too confusing or complex though, and you lose the essence of the game. The poisoner sounds like you are just trying to make the game more complex.

Also, y2k, the coach role was suggested to help noobs. I think a lot of the newcomers last game were asking a lot of questions and felt overwhelmed by all the meta and whatnot. Coaches/Hydras are assigned to a noob much in the same way that TA's are assigned to students in SOW. They don't actually play the game, just answer questions, point them in the right direction, and critique them. We haven't used them before, so I am anxious to see if they will actually be useful.

Night-time town voting.

I was wondering if town could anonamously vote on a nighttime action by PMIng the GM. We could for instance choose one player to deflect so that if that player targets a town or mafia PR then the action is deflected randomly onto a vanilla townie. The winner of the vote is announced but not if they were deflected.

Another example is that town could PM their night vote for someone to be doc protected. Again winner is announced.

The idea behind this is to encourage nighttime discussion but also to give town an opportunity to see who town see as enemy or friend. Mafia can still influence this vote, by discussion, but only town can vote. Only winner of vote is announced, not the voting tally. This could work well in a game that would be considered biased in mafia favour without this role.

You could night time vote for mayor. The following day he gets an extra vote in the lynch.
