If you reveal the roles after the game starts, it gives the town something to talk about I suppose.

Personally I think it's best to keep the official roles unknown until right before the game starts. I like keeping all serious discussion about the setup within the game and all participants already having their assigned roles once discussion begins. This implies that you all trust me to make it fair and balanced like FoxNews, which I will try to do.

I will give a small spoiler. I do intend to have a Rule of Two aspect in play, where Anakin Skywalker starts as a vanilla jedi not knowing he is Anakin (no vanilla jedis will know their jedi name obviously), and the loss of one of the sith results in his promotion and introduction to the Sith thread, as well as gaining a sith/mafia ability. The sith *will* know which player is Anakin at the start, and if lynched/killed before promotion, he will be revealed as Anakin. When fully introducing all the roles, I will make sure to specifically clarify how other roles interact with Anakin in particular, and what situations result in Anakin personally winning or losing.

Will Jar Jar be a role? You can tell us that.

No I wanted all roles to be jedi or sith except the third party role will be Jango Fett.

Y2K i deeply believe you should have a jester role in this game and make i Jar Jar. Their sole role should be to get lynched. This adds a deep dynamic to the game and makes lynching risky, but also gives us prequel haters something that will be deeply gratifying the death of Jar Jar.

Would this be in lieu of a serial killer like Jango? If the Jester gets lynched and wins does the game end?

Well in games that I have played with a Jester role that I have played if the Jester does win the game continues.. they just win with whatever group also wins. And no I would keep the independent SK role. There are more than enough people for two independents.

So there's not much disincentive to lynch the Jester except that it's like a mislynch for the town. The town/sith/sk don't win more if the Jester loses, compared with the jester winning alongside them.

You could make it so the Jester wins if Jester is lynched but it might be a quick game.

That's the only way to achieve the "lynching is risky" appeal you mention. Jester would seem kinda pointless otherwise. But if Jester seems too obvious, then the sith will execute him swiftly. I'm torn on my feelings on the role, but I'm leaning towards not liking it.

What days will this start? I will actually be busy until the 20th.

Start date is set for Monday the 15th, does that not work for you?

Alternate idea - LYNCHER. Some sort of third-party that gets a target. Their job is to get that target lynched. If their target is nk'd, they get a new target. They need to lynch two targets to win.

Jester/Fool is a horrible role to play with.

Lyncher is ok but random assignment can really suck. Warlock is better; where you have to predict who gets lynched- the next day two/three times during a game to win.

True. But if you get assigned a clear, you're out of the game til they die.

Warlock is similar but each night he picks who he needs to get lynched the next day to get a point. That sounds solid to me.

Also: What time of day will the phases be changing- and the game starting? I really hope it's at the same sort of time the last two games have been at - that seems to work for everybody.

It's called the executioner where I play and yeah I have enjoyed that role in the past, but like the joker (in my previous games) they win if their target is killed then they are freed up for the rest of the game and could swing either way for town or mafia.

The game should end when a third party wins; otherwise there's no point in them. Which is also why roles like Fool suck.

What if you got randomly assigned someone every day?

Will be using the same time of day used last game for day/night changes.

Night action: A Friendly Neighbor can target a player at Night to tell them that they are Town. The target will receive a message saying that the Friendly Neighbor is Town. This role does nothing else - the Friendly Neighbor does not know the alignment of the person who got the message.
