If only there were signs! If only there was some hint that he could behave violently with a gun! If only there was some way we could have known!

I Need a Mod
I need a mod to take a look at some reason postings in the thread I maintain, the Daily Bible Reading because a player is posting extremely offensive material of a graphic sexual nature that is completely unrelated to the topic. I muted him, but want to know if this is permitted or if it can be deleted from the Forum.

I need a God
I need a God to take a look at some reason postings in the prayers I maintain, the King James Bible because a neighbour is posting extremely offensive material of a graphic sexual nature that is completely unrelated to the topic. I forgave him, but want to know if this is permitted or if it can be deleted from the Universe.

The Return of NFL Pick 'em: Week 1 (Plus your picks for Playoff Teams + The Super Bowl!)
So a day late and seven Peyton TDs later--damn, he was great last night!--NFL Pick 'em is back...
So, besides the Broncos/Ravens game, pick the winners for the Week 1 match-ups...THEN pick your playoff teams (the 1-6 seeds for each conference) and then, of course...your Super Bowl match-up and champs.
So, NFL, Week 1...PICK 'EM!

Welfare pays better than work in the US
A mother of two in New York is eligible for more in welfare benefits than starting salaries for school teachers in the state. Hawaii offered the most money to a mother of two, $60, 590 and Idaho the least $11,150. 33 states offer more in welfare than full-time minimum wage work earns.

A slight inclination towards the Democrats, but little difference to the last time I took this (pre-election) when Democrats and Republicans had the same score. A few confusing questions... I don't understand how Darwin's theory of evolution can be considered an important political issue. It has virtually no impact on anyone.

Particularly in education I imagine, Octavious.

I didn't know Republicans favored increasing the budget for space exploration. Anyone fact check that? May be true.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
18 Aug 13 UTC
I don't support an increased space budget, nor do any of my Republican friends. We want private business to handle space exploration, because we know that capitalism works best.

Private sector exploration doesn't bother me as long as it is regulated.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
18 Aug 13 UTC
Why should it be regulated? When we had little-to-no regulation, before Wilson, the economy had virtually constant growth. Now, we have a recession every ten year or so.
Draugnar (0 DX)
18 Aug 13 UTC
I believe in stem cell research, increasing space exploration, *not* regulating the internet, protecting national parks and forests, gay marriage, marijuana, letting children of illegals be citizens (don't punish children for the sins of their fathers), and raising the federal minimum wage.
Draugnar (0 DX)
18 Aug 13 UTC
Private sector exploration neess no regulation. The government should keep their hands out of the private sector *especially* when it some to space and deep sea exploration.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
18 Aug 13 UTC
1. Stem cell research kills embryos, thus it is the same as abortion.
2. Once again, the private sector can handle space exploration.
3. I agree, the Internet should be left alone.
4. It is not the government's job to steal land under the guise of national parks. That was Socialist then, and it's socialist now.
5. With regard to the sodomites, I am not completely against the idea of shipping them all to Antarctica.
6. Marijuana is a non-issue.
7. Send 'em all back.
8. Abolish the minimum wage, all it does is kill jobs.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)

The less economic regulation, the better the economy.

@ Draug

Why look at the expanded list? If they wanted education to be the main point they should have included it in the question. What I do not believe is that the official view of the Republican party is that the theory of evolution is wrong. I am perfectly happy that some people don't buy it, but the party as a whole? No chance.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
18 Aug 13 UTC
We accept microevolution, that species can change over time.
We reject macroevolution, that all nature originated from bacteria.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
18 Aug 13 UTC
@Draug ... deep sea exploration could involve tampering with other life. Space exploration, to the degree I'm envisioning at least, doesn't. That's the big difference at least to me.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
18 Aug 13 UTC
@bo sox: But you're pro-abortion, right?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
18 Aug 13 UTC
If someone in my family were to ask me about an abortion - a personal situation - I would very much advise against it. It's different when the government asks me about a theoretical situation with someone I don't know, in which case I don't think I (or the government) should have any jurisdiction at all.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
18 Aug 13 UTC
So you want the government to regulate messing with fish, but you don't want it to protect a human life. Interesting position.

See this is why I consider you a socialist.
Draugnar (0 DX)

"1. Stem cell research kills embryos, thus it is the same as abortion"
Not true. It could be done using miscarriages and existing lines.

"4. It is not the government's job to steal land under the guise of national parks. That was Socialist then, and it's socialist now."
The land is already under government protection. I didn't say we should expand the size of parks. I said we should *protect* the existing ones. And I have often said I am socially liberal. I do believe in conservation and that we have a responsibility to our fellow man.

I won't even broach the bigotry of your comment in #5 other than to say your response disgusts me.

7 & 8 are, well, almost as abhoreent as #5 in my mindset. children should not be punished for their parent's crimes and no minimum wage means starvation of people. Again, I believe in society being responsible to the children and the infirm and to provide a living wage for unskilled labor.

@bo - Exploration, by it's very definition, would mean minimal damage to deep sea life. Exploration is about discovery, not about exploitation.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
18 Aug 13 UTC
I believe that protection of the environment over which it rules is one of the purposes of government. I do not believe that the government should interfere in individual decisions. Hence I won't say the government should force people to recycle or whatever. That's an individual choice.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
18 Aug 13 UTC
@Draug .. fair enough. If we are down there simply to discover and not to use, I'm all for it. I'd love to see a giant squid in its natural habitat (only one has actually been seen down there by my knowledge). However, I'm not sure the government would go down there simply to discover, and even if they did, they may be intending to discover exactly what they can use later and what they can't.

We don't yet know what we could do to the oceans. That's probably my biggest concern.
