All I'm saying is I went to the bookies to put a bet (double) on Spain to win the World Cup and David Villa to be top scorer. Should have got 14-1, but the confused lady behind the counter ended up giving me 45-1. Nice!

Australia will do well (football is the third sport in a nation of 20 million (ish).

Great first half for SA. Dodged a couple bullets from Mexico and could have actually scored on an opportunity or two.

SA are lucky

It was a great half for SA. If Brazil played the same half, it would be the worst half of soccer in the history of the Earth. But because of SA's talent level, that was a great half for them. Another half like that and they get a point in a game they are considerable underdogs. And who knows, maybe a fluke goal goes in and they get three.

SA was not the better side in that half, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good one for them.

What a game. Lucky SA goal and very unlucky Mexico performance throughout. Mexico attacked and had a new chance at a goal every 2 minutes the first half.

Mexico ruled the game the first 30 minutes of the match.
The beginning of the second half South Africa was improved.
SA deserved the 1st goal of the game.
After that SA was the only team in the court.
Mexico was quite like to draw as I think a fair result would be 2-1 for SA.

Bull mess! SA had like 3 opportunities for goals. 1 of them was lucky enough to get into the net! Mexico had a thousand opportunities. A fair result would have been 2-1 for Mexico!

I think Amon is confusing possesion with winning soccer and half-chances with real scoring opportunities.

Yes Mexico has more talent and was able to control the ball for much of the game, but SA had just as many really chances at goal as mexico. SA had a couple breakaways that they did not convert, and to say their goal was luck is untrue. The SA goal was on a 1v1 with the goalie.

Mexico's back line and keeper looked poor in this game. SA is a tough team to breakdown, especially when you let them get all 11 behind the ball. Mexico is the team with more talent, but SA fully deserved this point.

I think you people don't know anything about soccer after all.
Where exactly did you see the thousand opportunities for Mexico?
They had about 3 good chances to score a goal.
South African had probably more classical chances (one shot hit the post remember?)
Mexico had ball possession but nothing to do with the ball.
SA was really dangerous in counter attacks.
Mexico will probably end 4th in the group after a performance like that.
Also, Blanco should not play at all.
He's fat, old and should compete with Maradona in a drinking competition.
His futile attempt to play is just an attempt to ridicule himself and the player he once was.
