Xbox Live Arcade Diplomacy Game
Just a idea i thought of while on my xbox. Anyone else think it is a good idea? If it had 7 player matches and functionality like this website (with 1 day or more turn systems + plus live games) I think I would pay at least 10 bucks to purchase it as long as it was simple but still got the diplomacy feel.

I wrote a song for you Ava!
Inspired by Sarg's comments in this thread:
http://webdiplomacy.net/forum.php?viewthread=851524
I wrote this song for Ava! I used my friend's twelve string for instrumentation.

If you were to run for President, what would your theme song be?
You know, like Hillary was supposed to have New york State of Mind play when she campaigned in NYC... What would play and would it vary depending on where you were stumping?

Those Times When Someone's Opinion Is...Just Wrong...(NFL QBs?)
...as I'm sure mine often is? ;) Well, here's a multi-million dollar example:
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/joe-flacco-thinks-nfl-best-quarterback-005500221.html
Yeah...I like Flacco as a QB, I honestly do...but in a league with Peyton, Brady, Eli, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees...for starters...no. NOT the best in the NFL. But...who is--rank the QBs?

Is there a Chemist in the house?
I made a model for H3++, but I don't know what that's called.
H3+ is a trihydrogen cation, but is there a distinction between how "ionic" a molecule is?
Thanks!

Elites and (Reasonably Highly Rated) Scum Public Press Game
Sarg's thread made me realize that I've never played public press and would rather like to. Anyone in the top 100 GR is welcome to join, though I can increase the limit if we need more, and people in the top 50 should probably join Sarg's first (not trying to poach players here). Details are negotiable.

Community Story
As the Hobbies thread seems to indicate, we have a few writers among us. Let's compose something together, shall we?

Rules: 1) Limit yourself from 1 to 3 sentences. 2) No double posts. If you make a typo, the next poster just has to roll with it. 3) No digs at other users. If I have to spell this one out explicitly for you, then don't bother posting in my thread. 4) Just have fun with it!

@AM - I'm no mechanic. I have a Briggs & Stratten 17.5 HP engined Craftsman lawntractor so it mows and sweeps the lawn and can plow the drive (have the plow attachment plus chains and weights) but it isn't a hardcore tracotr as I only have about 2/3rds of an acre (a bit less at 25000 square feet) in the city. It's a 40 year old house built on a subdivided old farm built on the edge of Farifield (at the time). Now it is smack in the middle of the city as the city grew to incorporate all those subdivisions.

But I'll do some research into the initiative. I'm always up for a little more independence from corporate America.

But okay : ). If you change your mind, send me an email or pm

@abge - Does you apartment complex have garages you can rent? You could rent one for the car and a second as the workshop. The two keys to a workshop are room to maneuver and store stuff, and power. I had my electrician put in two additional 20 amp 110 circuits along with the 15 amp that was already running the lights and garage door opener in the garage. Once I build the real workshop and free up the second car side of the garage, I will have him come out and run the circuits back to it.

Oh...I'm one of the resident assholes. lol Not liked....don't feel like taking unconstructive criticism for my writing. If I thought people could offer actual constructive criticism, I would in a heart beat...but...not here, not now, because no thread stands on it's own....cross-over thread hatred is the name of the game here, so I wouldn't get a fair shake.

Well, I'm moving into the city in a month and I'm not sure what the setup will be like. If I'm lucky, we may be able to find a place where the basement is included.

There's also people who do jam workshops...that is, anyone can drop in and work for a nominal membership fee. They're getting pretty popular. I went to a local one to help a friend work on restoring a car a few times.

My brother has a basement workshop. Just be careful not to build anything you can't get up the stairs!
Ah. That's unfortunate, but understandable. Not trying to make you do something you don't want to, but maybe make a google document or some such and then only share it with the people you are comfortable with?

Yeah, my dept actually has one of those for electrical and light mechanical work. It will be a shame to lose that resource.

@Draug

lol I'm having enough fun with my lamps for now. It will be quite some time before I start building things too large to carry : )
Sorry, should have said to aid ease if reading. My last post was addressed to krellin.
Abge, have you considered doing anything else with bottles/glass? As I understand it, some of them lend themselves to quite cool glasses/jugs
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

@AM

I'm not quite sure what you mean?

I'm currently designing a circuit to make night lights out of small bottles.

At the moment, by skills with glass are limited to drilling holes, which I've gotten pretty good at. I feel making glasses would involve heating the glass and reforming it, no?
With bottles what you can do is cut the top (or top half etc) off and if you do it correctly you can actually get a fairly clean edge that with a but of work is same to drink from (there are a number of ways as I understand it but most are either inconsistent or consistently too jagged)
Bit not but and safe not same

Ancient -- i will consider it. I like feedback. Generally I write sci-fi/fantasy, but delved into a little kinda horror...so it also helps if the reader is in to the genre. when you have an elitest wanna-be Shakespeare reading, for example, you end up with a critique that is longer than your writing, and includes wonderful comments suggesting that the sci-fi isn't believable because the technology doesn't exist...so, like, you know, you actually have to read and grasp the concept of sci-fi/fantasy to offer useful critique. (Which is odd...because Shakespeare includes ghosts and magic....so in retrospect it's odd to see that sort of criticism from Mr. shakespeare-wanna-be...)
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

@AM

I might look into that--sounds interesting.
Krellin:
Very cool, let me know if you decide to go through with it. Those are my two main genres for reading so hopefully I'd be able to help.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

@Krellin Horror is such an interesting genre. Do you write more psychological or basic horror?
And abge, let me know how it goes; it's something I thought sounded really cool but I never really did it. If you have junk bottles around one fun thing to do along the same lines is you heat them in a line (usually either by rotating them around their vertical central axis while held parallel to the ground with a candle underneath or by burning a tied circle of alcohol soaked string) then dunk them in cold water and you can get the bottle to crack more or less along the heated line from temp change. It usually isn't clean enough to be useful though, as I understand it. Maye I just did it wrong though

that is a very interesting fact indeed! I've only been doing it for a few weeks now, and I have already become addicted to it. It is a lot of fun when you do it with at least 1 person, but even better as a group of 3 or 4.

Any here on iRacing? I love a good motor race, its a real test of character. I win about 1 in 4 races which is good but not great.

I read philosophy and always on the lookout for a movie that has something to say or good comedy (not too pretentious).

Also try to improve my French when there is time.
