Lending points isn't allowed. The team will give out points for 5-10 point tournament or feature games, but that's the only situations where additional points will be given out.

How would it be illegal? It would be a special rules game laid out in advance where every player whose name is not jgurstein move out of his home SCs then holds the rest of the game, allowing the player named jgurstein to move into the requisite 18 SCs as fast as possible. If we can do pacifist games where no one is allowed to move period, why not games where a prescribed set of rules exist saying one must leave and then never enter any SC with their unit.

We could acutally then have fun trying to force people to disband by dislodging non-SC units and forcing the disband because they aren't allowed to retreat to an SC.

Hmmm... New idea for a fun never ending variant (forget the jgurstein part). You must never enter an SC you already own other than when building. Doing so would cause the unit that entered to disband and the only builds that would be allowed are for gains that or a previous turn that was delayed. No, rebuilding units forced to disband during the course of play.

I don't know if the mods could make that happen. Probablky too much work and outside the realm of TD powers.

I'm all for allowing each player to give me a list of two countries they feel they suck at and assigning countries from the start of the game, I just need a list.

Well for special games (at least on this site) I think you need permission from the mods. I think that this would be one of those cases that the mods just wouldn't let. But your post did make me laugh :)

Really? A is your worst, but I is middle of the pack and G your best? Interesting. Note that my order, while not exactlt thesame, actually bares a striking similarity in those three, hencemy requesting to TA as Germany. :-)

I listed them in reverse order of my preference of playing. G is my least favorite, T is my favorite. T also happens to be my best record. My worst records are R and I, both in the middle of the pack in terms of my playing preference.

Well, most fun playing (most to least) is GIFAERT. I love the communication required and challenge involved in Germany. Italy is also fun to try and get either a central triple going or to get Turkey sttacking Russia while getting FGE fighting amongst themselves and then take out Austria creating a FIT alliance. France is just fun cause it is protected but can do so much with so many potential allies, including the Juggernaut plus one. Austria is OK and can be fun if you get the Central Triple going or at least keep Italy from being a fool. England, Russia and Turkey are just boring most times to me.

i like being russia. that might be my favorite one.

i have not played enough to have any preferences or dislikes, saying that... if i had to chose in order to learn from them (which i suppose is the point) then from most experienced to least is probably FEGRATI

joined the game. I had a question though. I saw that the other SoW game and everyone saves (instead of readying). Is this a requirement in SoW? The only reason I could think of to do this is that professors might need time to evaluate the board and type up conclusions. But is this true?

It also gives more time for the TAs to advise.

@jgur if memory serves... which it probably doesn't XD... i think that the original plan was to not ready any thing till 03 and then ready retreats, it gives players adequate time to speak to TA and then make diplomacy then re-address with TA etc. especially for the beginning of the game where talking is so critical.
however i could have easily remembered that wrong but it seems like a reasonable idea to me. if i have time later will look through original SoW thread

As you'll learn from your TA there is a ton of diplomacy to be done during builds and retreats, and a lot of large game changes can occur during builds. That's my most people take all the time they have during those phases.
