More noob questions
Just curious, when I'm at the "Home" page, some of the games I'm in have stars next to them like the stars that show up in threads you have posted in. What are these stars symbolizing?

The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad," Screen and Stage Countdown
We've all seen it ...that disease known only as "fanboyitis" (or, since I suppose our diseases have to be politically correct nowadays, it's sister disease that's toally equal and in no way lesser than fanboyitis, fangirlitis.) A movie, play, book, or or show comes out- and it's great. The sequels come out- "Oh my God, those evil demons ruined EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING!!!" So sound off on The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad" books, shows, films, and, yes, plays.

Halp!, it won't let me in!
So I'm trying to join a game a friend of mine started up and it's password protected so just us pals can play together, but it won't let me join. If I type in the password and hit enter it just reloads the same screen, if I type it in and click on join it says I have the wrong password. HALP!

Suarez=GENIUS! What a GREAT play. A play any Diplomacy player should be able to propreciate. Sometimes the end justifies the means. That was going to be a goal sure as ballocks.. But he made sure to give Uruguay a chance to stop it, and with no time on the clock. It simply was the correct move for him to make. Brilliant that he indeed made that move, and sacrificed himself on the next game to move his country forward. Completely brilliant.

That being said, what an emotional game that was, even for me (and I wasn't rooting for either team.)

As much as I wanted Ghana to go through and represent Africa, as well as get my fantasy world cup pick right, Suarez made the correct strategic move. He gamed the system well. Asshole. =P

Great couple of games today. I'd been disappointed in most of this year's World Cup games, but today made watching it all worth it. Ghana got robbed, but those last minutes, the penalty, and the shootout had my heart racing. I've never cursed out loud at my computer screen like I did when Gyan missed the penalty. Hahaha.
hellalt (70 D)

I actually wiped when Ghana lost the penalty shootout.
Too bad but I was sure they were going to fuck it up as soon as Gyan lost the first penalty.
Amon Savag (929 D)
03 Jul 10 UTC
Yeah. Even though Suarez stopped that first goal, Gyan should have made the penalty. It reminded me of that Spain vs. Switzerland, where Spain had so many shots on target and simply couldn't get the dice to roll in their favor.

with the difference that spain was not to be eliminated, I'm sure that sapin had played much better agains suiza if that game had been a quarterfinal
Thucydides (864 D(B))

Well whatever. I don't care if it was the "right play."

Anyone who actually likes that guy outside Uruguay needs to be morally examined.

I understand why he did it, and it does leave you questioning the rules.
In rugby, a foul that prevents a try leads to punishment and the try being given anyway.

Kewel stopped a goal with his arm much earlier in the tournament, and the rules didn't help there either. He was clearly trying to move out the way but couldn't in time. If it had glanced him and gone in, he wouldn't have even been booked.

Very satisfying to see the cheating cokehead Maradona humiliated 4-0. A team of divers, cheats and whingers in his own mould.

Shocking side note: Uruguay Ghana should have been reff'd by the Englishman Webb but Uruguay complained to FIFA because it was one of their guys that stuffed up in Eng-Ger. So FIFA back down effectively saying Webb cannot be trusted. Once again they do not support their officials. Blatter is an embarrassment.

Poor ref today. Yellowed Mueller for handball but not Demaria or Messi for the same offence. I feel sorry for Mueller missingthe next match but at least it didn't change the result.
hellalt (70 D)
03 Jul 10 UTC
I like Mueller too. He's a great player. When Messi complaints he's guarded by 3+ players, Mueller can make a critical pass just sticking one leg while on ground after a hard foul.
Long live hard working young players instead of overrated divas that want to dribble 11 players to score.
diplomat61 (223 D)
03 Jul 10 UTC
I hate the divas too. Robben is a classic example, running straight at three Brazilians thinking he can get past to score a Hollywood goal, then he falls over as soon as he (inevitably) loses the ball. Typical of his time at Chelsea too.

@Chamois, I don't but my memory is lousy, I tend to remember results rather than actual game. I live in The Netherlands at the moment, anti-German feeling is very strong here so there would be a great atmosphere if they both get to the final.
chamois (136 D)

That was the worst game ever, 16 yellow cards and 4 red cards. The dutch was just terrible! No fair-play.

Piqué*
diplomat61 (223 D)
03 Jul 10 UTC
Unbelievable by Pique, I agree he should have had yellow not red (although I think he had yellow earlier so ...). But also, should have been a red for the guy who bought down the Spaniard at the other end AND then the keeper when he bought down Fabregas after the second pen by Alonso.

On balance I think Spain were better so I don't mind the result.

"My money's still on Germany all the way." - Amon Savag

Prediction from the group stages. It's not too early to say "I told you so", is it? I really can't see Spain or Netherlands beating this team as it is right now.

Oh, and whoray for Schweinsteiger, who gets my vote for Man of the Match.
