Looking at the last few games it could/should be very close. Also, recent matches are actually in our favour - only a couple of years ago we beat them in a friendly, with virtually our reserves.

In this case, we're only playing Germany because you scored against Algeria - so nearly got away with the group despite playing worse than a stoned Coventry squad.

Having watched all the highlights, the Australian FA must be really disappointed. If it wasn't for that ridiculous red card in the first game, I think Australia would probably have got through the group

@US fans: If Ghana won it, you could argue you were just as good as any other nation, since they couldn't stop Ghana winning either. Thus you should be supporting them. If they loose their next game, it just makes you look even worse.

A game ruined because noone has the courage to introduce confirmation by video in certain situations. That was a more than clear goal by England.

As for the quality of the game, Germany played better in the 1st half. Let's see what happens next.

I was expecting a great game (and in fairness we got one, for the first half at least), but that just got shameful.

Germany didn't leave 2nd gear, but they didn't have to. England just made it so easy for them.
Now, the Lampard strike. Not going to lie, I think it was turning point in the game. England had taken the initiative and that disallowed goal cost them their focus. I'm not claiming England should have won from there - the fact they couldn't keep focussed shows they don't have the mental strength required - but it would have been closer. Like Cham I wanted us to loose by 1. Well, that's not true, I wanted us to win, but a close defeat would have been the fair result and might have finally sorted out Blatter vrs progress.

I will never forgive Ashley Cole for the betrayal of the one that loved him so much, but he left us for Chelsea and I guess that must be accepted. Being a little more serious, no matter what you may think of his private life, he is the best player in the country and the only one that could walk into any international team.

One of the things this game highlighted was the problem with having two slow centre backs. The first two goals both came from Upson & Terry making a mistake then not reacting in time.
