Santa and Jesus are WHITE GODDAMNIT, says Megyn Kelly
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/fox-news-host-megyn-kelly-says-jesus-and-santa-are-white-193322244.html
1. We'll leave Jesus being a "historical figure" alone here, that's up in the air (not even saying I don't think he might've been, just saying.)
2. ...Does it REALLY matter if people want a Black Santa? Really?
3. You're gonna tell me a Jew in the Middle East 2,000 years ago had pearly-white skin? O.o Um...no.

21 million Bitcoins
There are currently just over 12m Bitcoins in circulation. The number of Bitcoins allowed to exist is capped at 21m Bitcoins - once the 21 millionth Bitcoin has been mined, no new Bitcoins will be created.

What will happen when the 21m Bitcoin mark is reached?

A time stamp seems like a bit of a weird thing to include standard in a diplomacy game. For the older members, has it always been here? Was there a reasoning behind its implementation?

You'll never guess what my Biology teacher teached me...
Some not-too-fast girl thought there's oxygen in your urine.
The teacher explained: "there are no bubbles coming out of your wheenie!!" or something like that, roughly translated. She's hilarious.
In all honesty that was a small walk down memory lane, but anyway :)

Abolish the TSA
This editorial was in USA Today (!) and makes a pretty good case - the TSA has never actually caught a terrorist, its incentives do not line up with those of travelers, and the type of terrorism it was designed to deter doesn't actually happen anymore.

I'll be the first to admit that, historically, many corporations don't give a fuck about public safety. But all corporations known to man have been interested in protecting their property. Let's not forget that the airframe is a total loss in the event of a hijacking, something that airliners try to avoid.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)
04 Dec 13 UTC
I'm sure Putin33 isn't too thrilled about the idea of racial profiling, which means he's okay with the TSA subjecting Grandma and Grandpa and a young Yemeni with no luggage to the same amount of scrutiny.
________

But for the purposes of intellectual honesty, I'm not sure where I stand on the TSA. Does the federal government own the airways? If so, the TSA is justified because the federal government is responsible for security in the air, which by nature starts on the ground. The Constitution wasn't exactly written when the concept of "airspace" was a thing.

"BTW, are you libertarians also in favor of keeping knock-out videos online?"

That might be the most transparent attempt to derail a thread I've ever seen on the Internet.
Entities like the TSA give the USA a bad rep in the rest of the civilised world.
Yes, its a crappy job. Yes, you can argue the benefit.

But do they have to be such rude thieving f*ckers while they're saving the world?
If you can't vet the TSA staff for thieves then you really have got a security issue.
Putin33 (111 D)

Stupid threads deserve derailment. This forum's shrill contempt for public safety deserves derailment.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

Your shrill contempt of basic civil liberties deserves every rant that you read.
Lol. Ok, whatever you say bud.
Putin33 (111 D)
04 Dec 13 UTC
What isn't a 'basic civil liberty' to you? My god I've heard whining about everything from seat belt laws to pasteurized milk on here. And now mildly inconvenient security check points on flights you don't have to fly on.

Libertarians are takers who feel entitled to the rights of citizenship without any corresponding responsibilities.

Not wanting my undergarments looked through on a computer screen is not an unreasonable thing.

They've pulled me out for "random inspection" - random, seriously, fuck you, random? - and touched mine before. Not fun.

I got into Israel with a fork-turned-bracelet on my wrist and scissors in my carry-on yet a band-aid with some cream underneath it is a bomb. Fuck them.
Putin33 (111 D)
04 Dec 13 UTC
I'm pretty sure the TSA doesn't want to look at the contents of millions of rich malcontents' undergarments. A two second scan is a small price to pay for safer flights. Raising such a fuss about such a trivial point makes anti-statism look silly and petulant.
Putin33 (111 D)
04 Dec 13 UTC
"Not everyone who thinks the TSA is not good as it stands is a libertarian, btw."

True, but I've yet to see many leftists who want to die on this hill. The alternative proposed to TSA scrutiny is usually racial profiling. A far worse alternative.

Have you ever even heard of Glenn Greenwald, for a start?
Putin33 (111 D)
04 Dec 13 UTC
Yes and he is a libertarian. Works or worked for Cato, in fact. Prior to the Snowden affair, he was best known (by me anyway) for touting the Portuguese drug policy via Cato. I believe he also written extensively on various detainment cases pertaining to terrorism charges.
mendax (321 D)

Err, no he isn't.

Err, yes he is.

http://exiledonline.com/glenn-greenwald-of-the-libertarian-cato-institute-posts-his-defense-of-joshua-foust-the-exiled-responds-to-greenwald/

I parathetically note the paragraph about how the Koch-brother funded anti-TSA campaign (don't touch my junk) was all based on fraud. The relevant passage however is this one:

"Moreover, as Greenwald himself knows better than anyone, his ties to the Cato Institute and the Koch-funded libertarian nomenklatura go deeper than this. For example, Glenn Greenwald was one of the keynote speakers at an elite “Cato Benefit Sponsors” event, featuring Glenn and Cato fellow P.J. O’Rourke and winger Michael Barone. Who among progressives is invited as a top entertainer for the elite Cato Institute Benefit Sponsors event? Glenn Greenwald, that’s who."

Also, I note this:

http://www.alternet.org/story/145610/dennis_kucinich_vs._glenn_greenwald%3A_is_citizens_united_a_deathblow_for_democracy_or_a_1st_amendment_victory

That's right, Glenn Greenwald defended Citizens United to the hilt (I'm sure his Koch brother paymasters were thrilled). But he's...not a libertarian. Right.

If law abiding citizens were allowed to carry their firearms into the airport and onto their flights we wouldn't have any of these problems. heh heh...

And if we just got the sniffing dogs out and pulled out the "suspicious looking" characters out of line <wink wink...> we had fewer problems still. heh heh...

Krellin, I'm not sure if you're joking, but you do know that guns on a plane are a really terrible idea, right?

Not in the hands of law abiding citizens that only shoot the bad guys between the eyes...especially since they'll shoot from the seated and buckled position, so when those windows blow out, only those "suspicious" looking folks who snuck past the dogs will gets sucked out the gaping plane wounds... heh heh...
krellin (80 DX)
04 Dec 13 UTC
Really, if we could just start ...er....eliminating the bad guys on the streets in greater numbers, they might not even make it to the airport to begin with...heh heh

Basically, for anyone shot with narcotics in their system, the shooter should get a free pass...maybe a tax deduction to represent the savings to society re: not having to adjudicate and eventually incarcerate long-term the narcotics laden thug. Further, shooting someone with warrants, multiple convictions, etc...same thing. Yeah...that's the ticket. heh heh...

Mendax, you;re boring and pretentious. You should just stop. Greenwald eats worms and everyone knows it.

Inheritance Tax
I an inheritance tax (on sums larger than a certain amount, leaving a small sum to the heirs), keeps the capitalistic system going, levels the economic playing field somewhat, and requires the would-be dependents to go out and work. Furthermore, one who didn't want to pay in the form of taxes could give to the community through charitable donations. This system was supported by Andrew Carnegie in his "Gospel of Wealth", what arguments could be raised against it?

What is the best way to improve at gunboat games? I've been told several times that I am a worthless waste of space. And I would like to become a waste of space with a minuscule bit of worth. How can I bridge the gap? I tend to do better when I can manipulate people into what I want them to do.
