Telephone numbers in a book
So for my book, I need a telephone number. Is there any way to make it look like a real number but still not risk actually putting someone else's number in the book? If not, what's the best/standard way to handle this? Just put down 10 numbers?

Are men better than women at Poker?
UKIPs treasurer seems to think so...

He also thinks men are better at chess and bridge, I don't know enough about those, but I know a little about poker.

DSM V
the diagnostic and statistical manual, edition five, of the american psychiatric association, replaces the term "mental retardation" with "intellectual disability." Therefore, I submit, that krellin should no longer be allowed to use the term "fucktard" on this forum.

The silence from Obama and the EU is deafening......
"Egypt's presidency has declared a state of emergency after scores of people were killed when security forces stormed protest camps in Cairo."

I ask, who gets upset when innocent Muslim protesters get slaughtered in the streets by the army.....

Tomorrow, I register...
After 26 years, I am finally going back and getting my Bachelor's degree. I haven't been to school since 1987, when I got my Associate's. This is "scary" to say the least. :-)

I agree with abge somewhat...more on the line of this: when I went back to school as an adult, I took it so much more seriously, so I was much more awesome at everything. Hope it works out as well for you as it started to for me (an unexpected but very welcome child kind of threw a wrench in my plans).

Thanks all.

@SacredDigits - No worries about a child here. My wife is 58 and had a radical hysterectomey back in 2001. If she becomes pregnant, it will he something between Moses and Sarah and Mary and Joseph. :-)

The fact that I only get reimbursed if I get a C or better meams I will take it *very* seriously.

That's cool draug. Does your 25year old associates work count for anything? Or are you pretty much going to go through the whole program? When I decided to go back for my masters, I was turn between a masters in CS vs an MBA. After being a software engineer for 10 years at the time a CS masters wouldn't have gained me anything. So like you, I decided for diversification in business. I was able to get a management position within a year of getting my MBA, and while I haven't used shit of the econ, marketing, or finance classes I took, the credential itself has proven to be valuable. People respect the followthrough as much as the piece of paper. Myself included, as I now hire software engineers with masters degrees in CS.

My electives from the first go round (psychology, a couple of Composition and lit courses, and a few others) counted for my humanities and English stuff and they gave me credit for the Management track for my COBOL amd stuff as electives. But they don't count as actual CIS classes. I got about a year worth though amd if I go full time including summer, I should be able to complete the program in just over 2 years. I might be able to celebrate graduation amd my 50th birthday around the same time. :-)

One thing about placement tests -- do what makes you comfortable. I placed into calculus I my freshman year of college, but the closer I got, the more nervous I was about the fact that I didn't know a dang thing about trigonometry. I finally talked to a couple teachers and decided I should audit the precalculus course first, in the summer. It was a great course (I never knew I liked math so much before), and I can say for certain that calculus went much better than it would have otherwise.

I guess that probably won't happen for you; given your AA and (more) your experience, I imagine you probably have plenty of background for whatever the test says you should do. But I'll just share as a general thought that, while it's often considered bad to get set farther back than expected in a placement test, the opposite can be bad too, and there's nothing that bad about having to take one more course as long as you'll actually learn something from it.

I took the Calc A/B exam and aced it back in high school, but was thinking I might go ahead and repeat Quadratic Equations as there are so many ways to solve them (Factoring, Squares, Graphing...) It was part of Algebra II in high school and is called "College Algebra" at DeVry. It would be a good refresher and a class I'd probably pass with ease once it all came back to me. It won't cost me anything as the company is footing the bill whether I take it or test out of it.
Draugnar (0 DX)

And my current degree is an AS, not an AA. AS in CP to be specific.
semck83 (229 D(B))
16 Aug 13 UTC
Oh, sorry about that.
Draugnar (0 DX)

No problem. Many Associates are Arts degrees, but not Computer Programming, at least not back then. And most CIS degrees today are in science schools.

Here is a bit about the Technical Management program...

"To meet the needs of adult students, DeVry developed its bachelor’s-
degree-completion program in Technical Management. The
curriculum helps students with qualifying prior college experience
add an important credential – a bachelor’s degree – to their
resumé. The program also offers technical specialties to facilitate
students’ advancement to supervisory or management positions
in their chosen field of specialization. Specialties are shown in
the following program outline, as is a general technical option,
which students may take in lieu of a specific technical specialty."

I'll be selecting the Business Information Systems speciality.which has a lot of conceptual BIS coursework like data analysis for decision making, business intelligence systems, etc.

Sounds nice.

I have a couple AA's myself, in mathematics and physics, so it probably varies by school whether it's called AA or AS.

Ask a Afghanistan/Iraq/Operation Enduring Freedom veteran. See what you get what you ask these people to "brag" about kills and such. One doesn't "brag" about killing his fellow man. It changes him.
