So gun, you don't believe we should care for our fellow man when he is down and out? I identify as fiscal conservative but a touch liberal socially speaking. In fact, socially liberal means government stays the fuck *out* of the bedroom. When government tells gays they can't marry, then government *is* interferring in the bedroom. See the real hypocrisy there? Government should stay small and stay out of *everything*, only interferring to make certain basic human needs are met for people so we don't have abject poverty with people literally dying of starvation outside General Mills factory walls.
The right to life means the right to air, clean water, food, clothing, and shelter as these are necessities of life. Therefore we should guarantee everyone has these basics. That said, not everyone needs name brand jeans or filet mignon. Something a little above the workhouses in Oliver Twist or A Christmas Carol but still something that those who are able will galdly work to get out of. And in cases where they truly cannot work or care for themselves (the infirm, orhpans, and developmentally disabled), we should provide more than that bare minimum.
So, my logic is, treat others the way I would expect to be treated as a human being (not a fucking slave) but otherwise, keep your hands off my fucking money. Pretty simple really.
