More noob questions
Just curious, when I'm at the "Home" page, some of the games I'm in have stars next to them like the stars that show up in threads you have posted in. What are these stars symbolizing?

The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad," Screen and Stage Countdown
We've all seen it ...that disease known only as "fanboyitis" (or, since I suppose our diseases have to be politically correct nowadays, it's sister disease that's toally equal and in no way lesser than fanboyitis, fangirlitis.) A movie, play, book, or or show comes out- and it's great. The sequels come out- "Oh my God, those evil demons ruined EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING!!!" So sound off on The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad" books, shows, films, and, yes, plays.

So I'm trying to join a game a friend of mine started up and it's password protected so just us pals can play together, but it won't let me join. If I type in the password and hit enter it just reloads the same screen, if I type it in and click on join it says I have the wrong password. HALP!

I don't know what you all are thinking, but USA came out first in group C. Meaning that we're not on Italy's side at all. The only way we could do that is in the final.

Well, unless Italy came out second. I didn't think about that. Lol.

we're looking like we might get serbia, if everything plays out as it probably should (with germany beating ghana and serbia beating australia), and then its the winner of uruguay/skorea if we advance

rlumley congrats. You win the most extravagant spammer award in the history of webdiplomacy.
Congrats to the USA team. I like the fact they are an average talented hard working TEAM and they deserved the first spot. Too bad Slovenia is out but England decided to play seriously in their last game.
You should hope that Serbia wins Australia and Ghana wins or draws Germany. That way you get rid of Germany as a possible opponent.
You have the chance to reach the final 8 but Uruguay will surely kick your asses then :)
Xapi (194 D)

If Germany wins, unless Serbia gets 4 or 5 goals against Australia, USA will face Serbia or Ghana.

Q to my american cousins?

has the USA's comeback against slovenia and late winner against algeria ignited the american public at all?
drano019 (1003 D)
23 Jun 10 UTC
Maniac-

As far as I can tell, no. The general American public quite frankly doesn't give a hoot about soccer (football). If the team makes it to quarters or semis you might see more interest, but compared to our other national sports (baseball right now), fervor is quite low. People (myself included) who don't usually watch soccer are following the wins/losses/ties but that's about it, no big uprising of support that I've seen.
Amon Savag (929 D)

I've been watching every single game of the world cup so far. (Missourian here). You're right though, most of us aren't too interested.

That being said... Pretty happy day for me. Germany finishes at the top of their group, and USA finishes at the top of their group. Happy day for Amon. My money's still on Germany for the whole mess, but the other team I support is still in, and I wouldn't be unhappy in the least bit to see America win the world cup.
moses (124 D)

the usa-slovenia game was the highest rated football match in american soccer history, so idk if american interest is high, but its the highest its ever been

USA will win beat Ghana, but I doubt that they'll be able to beat anyone.
Anyway, being 1st in the group is already a great performance. There are some good players.

Troodonte, I have to disagree! I think the USA could beat either of the teams that come out of the Uruguay-Korea game. If Serbia can beat Germany, anything can happen!
Troodonte (3379 D)

Uruguay is favourite against Korea, for sure and, I may be wrong, but I think their also team enough for USA :)

I have a question for you guys, how long do you think Portugal will remain in the competition...? It's difficult to analyse our country's performance.
Amon Savag (929 D)
23 Jun 10 UTC
It'll be a game to watch, for sure!

Call me crazy, but I expect South Korea to win against Uruguay, based on what I've seen from each of their 3 performances.

1-0 or 2-1 (overtime) South Korea.

Then I expect (god willing) USA to beat South Korea 1 or 2 to nothing.

South Korea isn't that great. We can take them. That doesn't mean they will but they can. Same thing with Uruguay and Ghana

Actually I was quite pleased with USA's result today. They deserved it and it sort of made up for the robbery that occurred last week. I sometimes say a few things here that I don't believe just because people can be so serious but this statement is serious. Congratulations to the USA. I like their spirit in recent years (something lacking from so many others, *Cough*France*Cough*) and I'm growing to appreciate their team.
Amon Savag (929 D)

champ- I like what I see from South Korea, to be honest. They counter-attack so ferociously... If Bradley decides to go balls-in like he did against Ghana today, he will find that the South Koreans will counter much more effectively than Ghana, and they aren't afraid to finish the job. I think Bradley's got enough brains to not allow this, though. He seems to be one hell of a coach.

Being a South Korean fan, I ardently hope that South Korea can beat Uruguay. However, I think Uruguay is way too good for South Korea, and the Taeguk Warriors will need a huge amount of luck to advance.
1. Ghana is not an easy team to beat. Admittedly, they don't score a lot, but the US gives up chances to everybody.

2. If we beat Ghana, and Uruguay beats ROK (which I fully expect), Uruguay should work over the US like a speed bag. Forlan and Suarez are converters.

I'm compelled to give massive props to New Zealand for going undefeated in South Africa. They just might the next USA in 2014.
champ11228 (110 D)
25 Jun 10 UTC
Amon- I know it won't be easy. The US obviously isn't a great team either. South Korea is definitely very good but they're not a powerhouse, which I was figuring the US would have to play in the quarters. Bradley is a great coach you're right.
