More noob questions
Just curious, when I'm at the "Home" page, some of the games I'm in have stars next to them like the stars that show up in threads you have posted in. What are these stars symbolizing?

The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad," Screen and Stage Countdown
We've all seen it ...that disease known only as "fanboyitis" (or, since I suppose our diseases have to be politically correct nowadays, it's sister disease that's toally equal and in no way lesser than fanboyitis, fangirlitis.) A movie, play, book, or or show comes out- and it's great. The sequels come out- "Oh my God, those evil demons ruined EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING!!!" So sound off on The "Oh, Come On, It Wasn't THAT Bad" books, shows, films, and, yes, plays.

Halp!, it won't let me in!
So I'm trying to join a game a friend of mine started up and it's password protected so just us pals can play together, but it won't let me join. If I type in the password and hit enter it just reloads the same screen, if I type it in and click on join it says I have the wrong password. HALP!

Abidal is a total nutsack. The first goal, I'll cut him some slack: the sideline official blew the offsides call. But the second one, sheesh, that was terrible.

Onther example...
89 min... your team is winning 1-0 and only the victory qualifies for the world cup
you are defender and you see an opponent going for the goal...you have the chance to stop him outside the penalty area with a foul.... that can give you a red card but a place in the world cup...if you don't do it your nation is out,.... but it is necessary a "deliberate foul"... do you do it?
figlesquidge (2131 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
@Chris - Yeh I saw that. Had a look earlier because once the match starts you can view everyones predictions. Adds to the drama if you know an extra goal will cost you 2 D (you -1, direct competitor +1)!

@Troo - They are both fouls, but one is a mistake one is intentional.

So, does Mexico call Uruguary and arrange a draw, or try to the win the group? Let the game theory experts start chattering.
Amon Savag (929 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
Mexico doesn't care. They won't have to face any of them at the final, should they go that sort of distance. I think Mexico's going to play kinda conservatively this next game. Give their second tier a go, and leave the serious talent in reserve. (Maybe let some of them yellow cards sit it out, so they don't get banned from the first knockout game)

Spain loses to Switzerland lmao... I wouldn't even go to the locker room with my team, if I were Spain's coach. I would have just got in the car and left, so the team could dwell on the huge amount of ass they just shown on the world-stage.

You can put your money on Mexico - Uruguay 0-0 they will play for draw
Amon Savag (929 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
My money's still on Germany all the way.
Octavious (2701 D)

You really think Uruguay will be happy with 2nd place and the joy of playing Argentina? They'll go for the win surely
Amon Savag (929 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
I think Uruguay, being in the same group as Mexico and France, will be happy with whatever the hell kind of bone's thrown their way!
Mexico's sitting in second place on goal differential, so if anyone's going for the win, it will likely be el Tri.
yayager (384 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
Right now Uruguay moves gets first in Group A with a win or a draw against Mexico because of goal difference. I know they're not going to have issues about playing not to lose.

i have a question. if you root for a country that is not your own do you Europeans consider them a fake fan? for example i will root for the united States cause i live here but i am a German fan. is that in any way treason?
Troodonte (3379 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
Of course not.
you are a fan of German good football...
And you know that USA (even though it is your nation) doesn't play enough ;)
DJEcc24 (246 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
ok good. well i hope that the USA does get to a point of playing top notch football. but Germany has my favorite player. Bastion Schweinsteiger!
figlesquidge (2131 D)

My money is on Uruguay to take it - they've looked very competent so far. On current form, Uruguay are the best team in that group.

@Fac - Good luck with that - sorry but I don't expect you to make the next round.
Does have the far more interesting side effect that we could quite possibly end up with Spain-Brazil 2nd round (just not in the half of the table everyone expected).
figlesquidge (2131 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
"is that in any way treason?" - someone's got to be picky, so: yes, in some way.

But no, that's fair enough. Clearly I'd love to see England winning it, but I'd much rather watch Spain, Germany or the Netherlands play, and if we can't win I'd love the Dutch to.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
Bigger question is who do you support if/when they play each other?
DJEcc24 (246 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
yeah thats what i mean. i would root for the USA over Germany if they ever played but i'd like to see Germany the Dutch or Ivory Coast win if not
Ebay (966 D)

Why is there no love for PRK?

Personally I think Germany will win it. They look strong but the American teams look strong too. Uruguay and Mexico have definitely caused a stir. The Dutch could make a run for it as well. I think Spain and Brazil will fall though.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
If England win the group they would play in the 2nd round...
DJEcc24 (246 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
idk about Brazil falling. i'm just so tired of Brazil. here is the list of teams i do not want to win. Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, France, Italy
yeah i know good luck with that right?
chamois (136 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
Spain, Argentina and Holland are the most attrative teams, since France is almost eliminated, I support these ones. And ABE of course ^^

17 Jun 10 UTC
I have to admit I was a bit pessimisnt, but also I thought France would be a little more competent (why the hell henry dind't enter the game?).
anyway, the ones who will play for a draw will be uruguay cos with the draw they'r in first place.
hope aguirre send mexico to the attack to try to avoid argentina again in the second round
chamois (136 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
"send mexico to the attack" risky but that would be great.
figlesquidge (2131 D)
17 Jun 10 UTC
I can't see Uruguay being that defensive to be honest, although if they choose to rest Forlan they'd be a very different prospect to play against.
