Xbox Live Arcade Diplomacy Game
Just a idea i thought of while on my xbox. Anyone else think it is a good idea? If it had 7 player matches and functionality like this website (with 1 day or more turn systems + plus live games) I think I would pay at least 10 bucks to purchase it as long as it was simple but still got the diplomacy feel.

I wrote a song for you Ava!
Inspired by Sarg's comments in this thread:
http://webdiplomacy.net/forum.php?viewthread=851524
I wrote this song for Ava! I used my friend's twelve string for instrumentation.

You know, like Hillary was supposed to have New york State of Mind play when she campaigned in NYC... What would play and would it vary depending on where you were stumping?

Those Times When Someone's Opinion Is...Just Wrong...(NFL QBs?)
...as I'm sure mine often is? ;) Well, here's a multi-million dollar example:
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/joe-flacco-thinks-nfl-best-quarterback-005500221.html
Yeah...I like Flacco as a QB, I honestly do...but in a league with Peyton, Brady, Eli, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees...for starters...no. NOT the best in the NFL. But...who is--rank the QBs?

I made a model for H3++, but I don't know what that's called.
H3+ is a trihydrogen cation, but is there a distinction between how "ionic" a molecule is?
Thanks!

Elites and (Reasonably Highly Rated) Scum Public Press Game
Sarg's thread made me realize that I've never played public press and would rather like to. Anyone in the top 100 GR is welcome to join, though I can increase the limit if we need more, and people in the top 50 should probably join Sarg's first (not trying to poach players here). Details are negotiable.

As the Hobbies thread seems to indicate, we have a few writers among us. Let's compose something together, shall we?

Rules: 1) Limit yourself from 1 to 3 sentences. 2) No double posts. If you make a typo, the next poster just has to roll with it. 3) No digs at other users. If I have to spell this one out explicitly for you, then don't bother posting in my thread. 4) Just have fun with it!

Those are pretty sweet, abge.

I like driving, a lot. Just drives in the country for the fun of it. Getting expensive these days, of course, but fortunately, I'm also too busy to do it as often.

Also leather carving and photography. I don't have any photos up to share right now, unfortunately. I use a 4x5 field camera for the latter, when I can get the time.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

Those are really neat.

I love to game, both in video game form and table top games like D&D. When I can't do those I am a typical female and knit and sew.m I find it calming. I'll post picks when I have a chance of some things.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Thanks.

I love driving, especially in the Berkshires, where the foliage is so nice.

I tried leather work on a belt once; I was awful at it.
semck83 (229 D(B))
01 Apr 12 UTC
I did a belt once. I didn't turn out that great, and I've never tried again, because I just didn't enjoy it. Working on a really narrow piece of leather, with no room for a very flowing design, and a very repetetive design to boot all made it pretty unfun. If you ever decide to give it another shot, I think a billfold or something like that is probably more fun. Less unwieldy, and better designs.

I haven't driven in the Berkshires, though I'd like to. My favorite place to drive is Texas -- it has wonderful roads that are fast, curvy, hilly, and have lots of trees around them; but the Pacific northwest and the northeast are also pretty nice, as well as the entire west. I've driven in 39 states, so certainly one of my goals in life is to drive/be in all 50 eventually.

Do you paint the shades on the lamps?
santosh (335 D)

Nice, abge!

@Celtic
"When I'm not gaming, I knit or sew" reminds me of this - http://bit.ly/H73chm :-D

I haven't gotten too into the shades yet.

I picked the fabric out for the peacock one and found someone who would make the shade. But, it was too expensive to do again; I just wanted it for reference.

I actually found the vines shade at Lowe's.

Eventually, I'm going to have to start making my own shades. I have a large backlog of lamps without shades. I just haven't felt like making them yet.
Celticfox (100 D(B))
01 Apr 12 UTC
I don't think shades would be that difficult to make, but I'd have to look and see. Fabric can be insanely expensive though.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
01 Apr 12 UTC
The fabric is actually wicked cheap. Under $3 for the candelabra shade.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

Ah I know it depends on what kind you use. Velvet is sobtastically expensive. Looks like basic cotton so not so bad.

@CF

Yeah, I'm sure. Cotton is fine for me; all I really care about is the design and that it won't set on fire.

@Mafia

Have you ever made tiramisu? My roommates and I tried once. Fucking disaster.

@TWA

Listening or playing?
Mafialligator (239 D)
01 Apr 12 UTC
@abgemacht - No I haven't actually. I might take a stab at it except I tend not to like coffee flavoured things so it's not really something I'd enjoy eating. Looking at recipes though, it doesn't look exceptionally more complicated than a lot of the other things I've made.

Also, my job is kind of a hobby anyway, so having like, another hobby would seem kinda silly.
Celticfox (100 D(B))

We had a really hard time getting the consistency right; came out much too runny. Tasted great, though.

I make electro music on my PC. Here on some examples. I do every style so if you don't like one then perhaps you'll like another. If you hate electro music then simply don't listen.

"I'm a stage manager for a Not-for-profit theatre education organization."

"No time for theatre for me anymore alas." - That's what I want to avoid. I don't want to have to give it up.
Also it's not amateur theatre, it's professional theatre.
Mafialligator (239 D)
01 Apr 12 UTC
Errr that should say "Semi-professional"
Mafialligator (239 D)
01 Apr 12 UTC
@Abge - And yeah, consistency is always trickier than taste when it comes to dessert. It's all sugar and fat and chocolate most of the time, it'll taste good no matter how poorly it turns out in nearly every other sense.
My personal favourite dessert I've ever made was a chocolate caramel pecan cheesecake. It was delicious.
I also have one of my standard staple recipes which is a flourless chocolate cake, with raspberry coulis.
Also the least healthy breakfast ever, which is banana-nutella chocolate french toast with custard and strawberries.

Never give up your dreams. Even if they have to change from time to time. I was a drummer for many years. Only Rock for me and everything else be damned. BUt then I got married and had kids and then I hadn't the time nor space and so I started playing around with the PC: Now I'm listening to electro music of all styles and having fun making my own tracks. Sounds have changed but I haven't. Much.
pjmansfield99 (100 D)
01 Apr 12 UTC
@ CF & Mafialligator - I went to university to study Stage Management and Technical Theatre and was lucky enough to get work afterwards and still work in the industry now. So don't give up on it!
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
01 Apr 12 UTC
Don't listen to pj; he'll promise you riches and glory and then futz about while you desperately try to take on Italy all by yourself.
I was a theatre major who ended up not wanting to do theatre after graduating. Go figure.

Lol, wasn't the only reason Barn3tt got a solo the other night, that you decided to wind Thucy up ;-) Hmmmm....
Celticfox (100 D(B))

Oh if a paying theatre job came up I'd snatch in a moment, but the economy is pretty bad in the area. If I lived in Chicago itself it probably would be a different story. What I should of done is stayed in So. Cal instead of moving out here. I would of had a paying job at Disneyland's costume department but I choose being with my now husband instead.

Btw PJ are you a stagehand or something else?
