the general concensus seems to be that live drafts are ok. i'll need more feedback on nfl.com or espn.com. I'm fine with either. but I believe that you will need an account for both sites--just provide a name, real or fake, and your e-mail or secondary e-mail for account activation.

as for the live draft...would a saturday work? perhaps towards the evening. or whatever other time. we'll have to find a way around timezones, but since this is NFL football, we're all probably in America so hopefully things will be easier.

Also, I would like for the draft to be around mid- to late-August, just so we all can know a little more about players' performances and stuff like that thru training camp and some preseason games. I'll be on vacation from July 30-August 5 or 6. Still will be able to check in and stuff, but hotel computers have a time limit. Most of the time. But I won't be able to do a draft during that time, in case all of you want to get the draft done early.

what time on saturday?

love the idea of a live draft, we organised one manually way back at Uni (for soccer) and was probably more fun than the rest of the season.

definitely agree with Peregrin, mid to late august is the best time just because you know who is going to be where and all of the little drama stories (being from minnesota, i'm specifically pointing towards favre here haha) are sorted out. but maybe create the league as soon as possible, but set up the draft time for a later day where it works for everyone

Ok so, I don't know if this will work for everyone, but just to throw someting out there to work with, how about 7:30 CST on Saturday, August 14th or 21st?

yeah Flamelyre, I'm from MN too. but I'm 99% sure Farve will come back. He just wants to skip training camp. but who can blame him? he's 40 sumthin. =)

Why an 8 team league over a 10 team league?

that usually lets everyone get a decent team. but if you want to play too, i can definitely make it 10 ppl. but that will also depend if another person shows interest

Live draft is good. I'm on vacation late August -- Aug 20 - Aug 28 -- and will have limited access during that period....but think live draft is best. If necessary you can pre-select your draft (at least in yahoo league...I'm sure in other leagues, too).

i've also always done my fantasy on yahoo.com, and i've never had any problems with it
but if others are dead set against it, i don't really care if we go elsewhere

ok. so, the draft will have to be either on the weekend of the 14th and 15th, or sunday the 29th.

moses, since you're the 10th one, we can just do a 10 ppl league. or if you want to, you can just set up another seperate one. it's your choice, but let me know as soon as possible on what you decide to do so i can set up the league accordingly. and i only picked espn because the only one to voice their thoughts on which site to do it on said nfl.com or espn, and i already had an account for espn. but i have done my past leagues at yahoo, and if at least four others don't care, i'll make one for yahoo. yahoo seems to me to be more user friendly than espn

I've done all my leagues at Yahoo in the past and have my account there. I'm down with Yahoo. Also good with the days you have.

Have you decided on what type of league? I've only played one type...never played points per pass/catch whatever it is and never played where you have to buy your guys or whatever it is. What are you leaning towards?

Oh geez, I read this too late! I'm always up for Fantasy leagues. Been playing Yahoo football and baseball for years since my local leagues fell away.

If you need to do two leagues to fit everyone in, and don't have enough to do two full leagues, I will play in two leagues for you.

the leagues will be 100% free. i'm thinking a head to head league, 2 divisions of 4, (this will be randomly picked) 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, 1 WR/RB (so you can switch between the two. i call if flex-back) 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DST, and 6 bench spots. playoffs will be weeks 15 and 16. top two from each division advance, others will play in consolation

1pt per 10 recieving yds
1 pt per 1 rush yds
1 pt per 25 pass yds
rush TD=6pts
catch TD=6 pts
2 pt conversions=2 pts
fumbles lost= -2 pts
punt/kickoff return TD=6 pts
FG 0-39 yds=3pts
FG 40-49 yds= 4 pts
FG 50+=5pts
PAT=1 pt

But as commish I would leave it with ESPN rules.
