Santa and Jesus are WHITE GODDAMNIT, says Megyn Kelly
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/fox-news-host-megyn-kelly-says-jesus-and-santa-are-white-193322244.html
1. We'll leave Jesus being a "historical figure" alone here, that's up in the air (not even saying I don't think he might've been, just saying.)
2. ...Does it REALLY matter if people want a Black Santa? Really?
3. You're gonna tell me a Jew in the Middle East 2,000 years ago had pearly-white skin? O.o Um...no.

21 million Bitcoins
There are currently just over 12m Bitcoins in circulation. The number of Bitcoins allowed to exist is capped at 21m Bitcoins - once the 21 millionth Bitcoin has been mined, no new Bitcoins will be created.

What will happen when the 21m Bitcoin mark is reached?

A time stamp seems like a bit of a weird thing to include standard in a diplomacy game. For the older members, has it always been here? Was there a reasoning behind its implementation?

You'll never guess what my Biology teacher teached me...
Some not-too-fast girl thought there's oxygen in your urine.
The teacher explained: "there are no bubbles coming out of your wheenie!!" or something like that, roughly translated. She's hilarious.
In all honesty that was a small walk down memory lane, but anyway :)

Abolish the TSA
This editorial was in USA Today (!) and makes a pretty good case - the TSA has never actually caught a terrorist, its incentives do not line up with those of travelers, and the type of terrorism it was designed to deter doesn't actually happen anymore.

That line is so original!

Yes, the TSA should be disbanded. I didn't think it was a big deal until maybe six months ago when the TSA started a program called "pre-check" where you pay $80 to bypass security and get to your flight quicker.

You literally have to buy your rights back.

I'm surprised it still exists. It seems like an easy bipartisan thing to do considering both parties (and especially their bases) have their reservations.

HA! You people are funny. The TSA is another government UNION....it will NEVER EVER EVER go away now, because someone might lose a vote if they do the right thing.

Just like.....(75% of the US government...)...

Tell Bernie Sanders and Angus King that no one in the government will vote against such things. They are both independents and are both some of the most reasonable, most people-friendly Senators we've had in, oh, forever, as far as I know. They both lean left but they aren't Democrat and they certainly don't always side with the Democrats.
krellin (80 DX)
03 Dec 13 UTC
Well yippee skippy for Sanders and King. meaningless drivel...two shmoes with no power to make any change. <yawn...>

I'll do you one better, Bo...we have a whole Tea Party wing of the Republican party that wants to cut excessive government spending, but all people will do is vilify them, because once something exists in a Federal Budget, it become sacrosanct, and *daring* so suggest a budget cut apparently equates them with the Devil himself.

Krellin, as much as I typically disagree with the Tea Party, I respect them for breaking the norm.

I don't respect them for supporting bigotry and right-wing anarchy. But that's another issue.

Bernie Sanders and Angus King are both recently elected. The point is that people are starting to hate both parties, regardless of affiliation, and independents like those two are probably not going to be a big abnormality for all that long.
krellin (80 DX)
03 Dec 13 UTC
"I don't respect them for supporting bigotry and right-wing anarchy."

Sigh....really Bo? Please tell me exactly where the Tea Party supports these things. Oh, by the way, you forgot that they want to eat your babies....

Really, you need to get your information from something other than CNN, MSNBC and Jon Stewart...
krellin (80 DX)
03 Dec 13 UTC
As for Sanders and King, the "Independants" that no doubt caucus with the Democrats and Democrats in all but...

Just like Tea Party are "independant" from the Republican leadership, but kept the name so as to not split votes in elections (i.e. win at the primary). I mean, I'm happy they are there breaking the mold...but don't expect much from it.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Bernie Sanders would probably be a Republican if the Republicans were more moderate and less Romney-esque. I don't expect you to see that, though. Not like you to see things like that.
semck83 (229 D(B))

Gunfighter06 (224 D)

@ Putin33

"BTW, are you libertarians also in favor of keeping knock-out videos online?"

Yes, but I'm even more fervently in favor of more citizens being armed. A nice solid wall of .45 ACP might make these thugs think twice before they go around committing aggravated assault/attempted murder on random citizens.

Any citizen who witnesses a violent felony should be able to respond with lethal force. If I see a random guy get jumped across the street from me, I should be able to start shooting.

"Nothing whinier than air travelers."

Anyone who actively bitches about the TSA needs to get a pilot's license or fly out of a smaller airport. Many large cities have satellite airports with super laid-back TSA guys. I'm still adamantly opposed to the TSA, but the whininess of air travelers (and of Americans in general) must be acknowledged.
mendax (321 D)
03 Dec 13 UTC
Yes, because everyone who needs to cross oceans for any reason can afford the time and money to learn how to fly a plane and just get a Pilot's license. I mean, it's clearly everyone who can spend so much, learning how to fly or flying out of a smaller airport that doesn't directly get them where they need to be.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

Here's my proposal:

Disband the Department of Homeland Security and fire all of its workers and agents. Airlines take over responsibility for protecting their passengers (possibly with FAA/NTSB guidance)

Border enforcement of the southern border becomes a military responsibility and the Border Patrol is disbanded.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

@ mendax

Yeah, or just disband the TSA as I originally proposed.
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

Because corporations have a trustworthy record of public safety when left to their own devices?

How about you libertarians just kill us all and that way we'll have need for government or regulations of any kind.

Inheritance Tax
I an inheritance tax (on sums larger than a certain amount, leaving a small sum to the heirs), keeps the capitalistic system going, levels the economic playing field somewhat, and requires the would-be dependents to go out and work. Furthermore, one who didn't want to pay in the form of taxes could give to the community through charitable donations. This system was supported by Andrew Carnegie in his "Gospel of Wealth", what arguments could be raised against it?

What is the best way to improve at gunboat games? I've been told several times that I am a worthless waste of space. And I would like to become a waste of space with a minuscule bit of worth. How can I bridge the gap? I tend to do better when I can manipulate people into what I want them to do.
