Would your project allow you to update an existing site? There are tons of improvements that could be made here.

I don't know the details yet but the teacher clearly mentioned creating our own sites for which we get marks. I don't think you can mark an update to an existing site very well, and I'm pretty sure we're supposed to build one ouraelves...

So I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

When you have the actual assignment, I suspect this will be much easier.

The assignment is to personally make a website. I admit I'm thinking in advance, but there's really only small details left to fill in, like, does it matter if I implement the idea SYnapse worked out?

Part of the idea seems to be that we just do it ourselves without being held by the hand, so I suspect there are few 'rules' other than that I have to make a website myself and it doesn't have to be hosted although that would be nice if I like the result.

Also, while I'm at it, who's the cheapest host on here? :)

Nope, and I'm in secondary school if that's the right term. The Dutch school system is a bit different. Nevertheless, I think you might be overestimating my age a bit.

Secondary school is equivalent to highschool in US. 15-18 years old. For some reason I thought you were in college.

@abgemacht: it's more like 14-18 years old around here, mainstream. 13 or 19 isn't really an exception. No problem though. I suppose that's a compliment anyway.

@Maniac: sounds perfect. Tell me as much as possible (on this thread, in PM or via mail, whatever you want. I'll give you mail if you ask), and I'll check with my teacher as soon as I see him again. If it's a handsome payment compared to the job, and I can actually pull it off, I'll do it anyway though. More money doesn't usually hurt after all :)

In Canada we call high school secondary school as well, grades 9-12, ages 14-18

Anyways, krellins idea is great for such a project. Also I too am learning programming :)

To clarify: for a reasonable (handsome might be a bit of an overstatement although I'm not sure. I'm not native English but Dutch, in case you didn't know, Maniac) payment compared to the job I'll even do it if my teacher doesn't let it count as my project for whatever reason. Just in case you didn't quite understand that part.

Also, a quite fun fact. I haven't done a job or really made a living for, like, ever before, and today I started helping a kid with math for money and now I may earn money making a site as well. Way to go! Kinda thrilled :)

And while krellin's idea is fine, especially since I said any idea is good, it's kind of the least I could do. I like a challenge, and I like a payment while I'm at it :)

And I don't mean to brag; I learned how to do that a couple of days ago I think, but still. I know I can do it and that ruins the fun for me :)
