I Need a Mod
I need a mod to take a look at some reason postings in the thread I maintain, the Daily Bible Reading because a player is posting extremely offensive material of a graphic sexual nature that is completely unrelated to the topic. I muted him, but want to know if this is permitted or if it can be deleted from the Forum.

I need a God
I need a God to take a look at some reason postings in the prayers I maintain, the King James Bible because a neighbour is posting extremely offensive material of a graphic sexual nature that is completely unrelated to the topic. I forgave him, but want to know if this is permitted or if it can be deleted from the Universe.

The Return of NFL Pick 'em: Week 1 (Plus your picks for Playoff Teams + The Super Bowl!)
So a day late and seven Peyton TDs later--damn, he was great last night!--NFL Pick 'em is back...
So, besides the Broncos/Ravens game, pick the winners for the Week 1 match-ups...THEN pick your playoff teams (the 1-6 seeds for each conference) and then, of course...your Super Bowl match-up and champs.
So, NFL, Week 1...PICK 'EM!

Welfare pays better than work in the US
A mother of two in New York is eligible for more in welfare benefits than starting salaries for school teachers in the state. Hawaii offered the most money to a mother of two, $60, 590 and Idaho the least $11,150. 33 states offer more in welfare than full-time minimum wage work earns.

@Jamie - You could say that, but there is at least one Roman Catholic Pope who (being infallible) claims that the big bang was the mechanism which god used to create the earth.

Now i don't want to offend all Christians by lumping them in with a reasonable claim from a pope... so i'll admit not ALL Christians are reasonable :p
Sbyvl36 (439 D)

@Orathic: That isn't true. Pope John Paul II said it was possible, but never confirmed it. And Popes are only infallible when speaking 'ex cathedra', which was only done once, by Pope Pius XII, when defining the dogma of the Assumption.

Sbyl - 7200 years old, huh? And I'm sure this is by "Biblical reckoning..."

So tell me this...let's say the Bible is true, the story of creation in Genesis. How long were Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden?

Assuming what the Bible says is true - the Adam and Eve are the first created humans - they must have had a *lot* of kids in the Garden of Eden, who also *left* the Garden prior to Adan and Eve being forcefully ouster, because when they leave, and their kids get in a fight and one murders the other (Cain and Abel), the murderer Cain is marked so that as he wanders teh land noone will kill him. He goes to the land of Nod and he starts to build a city. He also marries prsumably his sister and has a kid, etc...

Anyway...the implication here is that the land is populated (who is he building a city for, after all?)

So...how long were Adan and Even in the "garden of Eden" This pesky little fact is left out of the story in Genesis...so there is no way to know how old the earth is based upon Biblical reckoning.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
01 Sep 13 UTC
@krellin, if you were to add some 'common science' you might be able to assume Adam and Eve, being human, were at most 100 years old...

I'd also like to know how you fit dinosaurs into your theory. Did Adam and Eve live side by side with dinosaurs, possibly riding them into battle against the liberal Nazi Neanderthals?
orathaic (1009 D(B))
01 Sep 13 UTC
but then i guess you're picking and choosing like some kind of moderate...
2ndWhiteLine (2606 D(B))

Not entirely a safe assumption, orathaic, since Noah supposedly died when he was 950 years old. Adam and Eve may well be still alive, we just haven't found the Garden of Eden yet.
krellin (80 DX)
01 Sep 13 UTC
Orthaic - no -- Adam and Eve, Biblically speaking, will not die until they commit sin and get thrown out of the pool. So, being ageless in the garden of eden and just pumping out kids (enough that the world is ready for cities/ already has cities), Adam and eve have been around for a while. For all I know, Adam and Eve lived in the garden of Eden for a billion years...it's unspecified...

Gee...kind of depressing to think that God makes man and woman, offers them paradise, and that fuck it up almost *immediately*....
orathaic (1009 D(B))
01 Sep 13 UTC
Ok, so if they lived forever, and this literally meant however long a life you wanted, how come Jesus - when he died and forgave the sins which eve committed, and caused god to curse us - how come Jesus, when promising eternal life, didn't mean it literally?

Do I understand right, that the world is 7200 years old? And what do you say to the 12000( twelve thousand ) years old sphinx?
philcore (317 D(S))

@Gerry, dating methods are flawed. We modern humans assume that rates of decay that we use to measure age of formally living things (radio carbon) and of much older geological things (uranium and other radioactive elements) must have been constant throughout the history of the earth, just because they have been constant in the last 80 years that we have been studying them. Well if God controls that rate, he can make it variable in order to fool us.

I must point out though that if you were referring to the great sphinx of giza, that's only about 4000 years ukr so it fits right in with biblical history.

"Do I understand right, that the world is 7200 years old? And what do you say to the 12000( twelve thousand ) years old sphinx?"

First, I'm a Christian and I believe the Earth is billions of years old as science says. This is just about the Sphinx. The idea that it's 12,000 years old is a New Age canard with no basis in fact.

@ philcore: when the phinx is only 4000 years old than this would mean she was build 2000 B.C., sorry this is absolutely a nonsens
The phinx is 12000 years old, that is fact, FYI : the phinx is looking on 21.Of march at the sunrise To the star Al Nikat (a star in Orion)and this happend 10500 B.C. ,
The pyramides are placed like stars in Orion but this beside.
2) the phinx has corrosion damage which could not happen in the last 4000 year.
This is also fact, when you not believe I will copy my components and sending to you, or look at wikipedia.
