Other Board Game sites
In my day, I have seen about 50 different sites for diplomacy or Risk. I was wondering if there were any other board game sites set up similar to this one.

"Huck Finn" Gets a Re-Write...AND THAT AIN'T RIGHT!

So...not ONLY is this editing one of THE great novels of all-time, arguably THE definitive "Great American Novel," but I guess racism just never occured...the N-word and Native American slurs never happened, eh?

Android is a cool OS...
This new Droid X has the coolest new way to type called swype. You just slide your finger across the keys and it figures out the word from its dictionary. It's really quite good. Got a double letter? Just rub your finger over it before continuing and it will register the double so it knows god and good are different words. I just swyped this entire message.

WebDiplomacy: The Movie!
Yes, it's official: Hollywood is so bankrupt for ideas and has sucked every sequel and franchise and reboot of previous franchises totally dry, so there WILL be a WebDiplomacy feature film!

What should the plot of this epic be, who should direct...and which actors, past and present (because Hollywood stars never die, they just show up on Netflix) should portray each of us? ;)

I would like Groucho Marx to play me...but then we'd need someone to be Harpo and Chico...

Anyone want to be a clow mute and a fake Italian? :p

With the amount of pain medication I've been on, only Bob Geldof could portray me well.

Draugnar (0 DX)

I'd say Harpo, the clown mute, could play me but I like to talk too much. Maybe we could have the Marx Brothers and Larry, Curly, Moe, and Shemp (all 4 of the Three Stooges). If we did that, I'd take the "smart" one of Larry.

But realistically, Wayne Knight (Newman from Seinfeld and the programmer in Jurassic Park) would best represent me.
Mafialligator (239 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
The plot? Would it be about diplomacy games, or about the forum?
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Jan 11 UTC
Why not both?
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
@Kat:

You mean Zeppo?

@Draug:

I thought Moe was the "smart one" out of the Three Stooges...and besides, who the hell would want to be Shemp? He's OK, put come on, if you flip through channels and see its a Curly one, you might watch, but you see it's a Shemp and for most folks it's CLICK!

@Mafialligator:

I dunno...both, maybe? We need a story, a really rousing, epic tale of heroes and villains and good and evil and really long posts and threads that just never die and even spark a millikon silly spinoffs because everyone wants to be the winner and the last or second to last to post but no one lets it die!

Something good like that. :p

So, so far we have:

Groucho Marx as obiwanobiwan
Wayne Knight as Draugnar
Bob Geldof as SacredDigits

We need a female lead...hmmm...
Mafialligator (239 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
That's going to be difficult.
Gobba (2209 D(G))
07 Jan 11 UTC
There seems to be the need for a "strong, silent type" so I would suggest Dan Blocker (Hoss from Bonanza) for my part.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Jan 11 UTC
So halfg our cast so far will have to be digitally put in the film. Blocker and Groucho are both departed from this world.
*calls token annoying little kid that somehow becomes a critical plot device, much to the dismay of everyone watching*

Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Jan 11 UTC
Oh! Story line! President Eden is part of the crew going to Boston this summer but gets left behind!
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
So Anakin Crusher, aka President Eden, is portrayed by McCauley Caulkin (meaning not only will your part be achingly annoying but you'll also have no career once you hit puberty)...

JNewton, your role will be to stab the most boring, lifeless character in the entire story and then get horribly chopped in half...

And I guess I'll just smoke my cigar in the meantime and make about every inuendo ever made about a glowing colorful shaft that men like to hit each other with and must build big and strong, as come on, now, no one wants a little lightsaber (poor Yoda, he msut ahve felt so inadequate that day...)

We need someone to kill Anakin Crusher, though, and in the first 5 minutes oir the film will bomb--any takers for horribly murdering President Eden?
Mafialligator (239 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
I'll do it! I can be the villain. A CGI, organized crime, involved anthropomorphic-alligator monster, portrayed using that fancy motion capture technology they used for Gollum in Lord of the Rings. In fact I think my actor should be Andy Serkis too.
Bruce Dern as Crazy Anglican
So I'm getting left behind by the Boston crewe and murdered by a CGI mobster gator in the first five minutes?

Screw you guys, I'm goin' home.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
@Mafialligator:

OK, but only if you use the voice!

"We HATES Anakin Crusher, we HATES him, we must KILL Presiden--I MEAN ANAKIN CRUSHER!"
"No, we LOVES him, he's ADORABIBLE!"
"We HATES HIM, he cannot act and drags the story!"
"But think of the sequelzes! WE LOVES HIM!"
Sam Elliot might be a good 2nd choice as me, but I like Bruce Dern.
Mafialligator (239 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
Why that voice? I don't sound like that.
Mafialligator (239 D)
07 Jan 11 UTC
And yeah I agree with President Eden
Not in the first five minutes. Only parents can die in the first 5 minutes. We should let him survive about halfway through, THEN kill him.

Michael Cera as DJecc24. gets at least all 5 girls that play diplomacy in this movie.
I call Clint Eastwood portraying me. Fuck it, this is the internet, I can reinvent myslef as whoever I want so I chose the most intimidating, manliest mortal alive. (Note I say mortal so as to remove Chuck Norris as an option)

The movie opens with a traditional map of Europe circa 1900…

Voiceover “Europe’s great powers stand on the verge of conflict, the world holds it’s breath knowing that many brave men and women will be slaughtered in the coming months and maybe even years. But then, just as a continent is about to descend into a new dark age, some bright spark has the idea of asking each great power to build some plastic bullets and ships in their nations’ colours and send their most ablest ambassadors to resolve their differences over a a board game which has been likened to playing chess whilst high on crack and trying to master roller skates for the first time. This is the story of how Europe was formed…”

During the voiceover the traditional map becomes painted in the diplomacy colours, we see a sweeping pink emerge the UK and cut to circa 1900 dressed workers painting the roads and fields with yard brushes. We see some famous landmakes being painted in pink. These scenes are repeated for each of the great powers. We also see people constructing huge plastic bullets like silos again in the diplomacy colours and diplomacy coloured ships launched with the traditional champagne breaking.

Voiceover, “Each great power will send it’s greatest hero…”

We now see the selection processes employed by each power, Russia holds a chess competition, England appoints someone who can trace their heritage to Wellington, The Italians select someone who can run around in circles.

We are now introduced to the contenders “In the Yellow Corner representing Turkey <insert name> weighing in at 209Ibs etc etc. Their bios are shown on screen together and we cut to a short monologue as each player introduces themselves.

To be continued by others….

The seven representatives of the powers walk to the center of the ring, where a table stands with a Diplomacy board on it. They sit down in chairs around the table and look at each other uneasily. After a protracted silence, the Italian finally says, "A-fucka dis. I gonna try de honest approach. I don't a-hava clue how to play dis game." Then the Englishman says, "I'm sure I don't either," and all of the other countries say something similar in chorus. Then the Italian says, "So, let's-a getta out of here." They all get up and start walking back to their corners.

Voiceover: "Not so fast..." About a hundred soldier lean into the ring and point rifles at the seven representatives. Then the Frenchman says, "Vell, it zeems zat our only obtion iz to play, zen, eh?" And they sit back down around the table.

Montage of the scene after the first hour (sitting rather alertly around the table, waiting for moves to be adjudicated), second hour (slumping a bit, having a rather spirited argument though), third hour (the Austrian is asleep, the Englishman and the Frenchman are quibbling over adjudication, and the rest of them are sitting desultorily), and the fourth hour (Russia is asleep cradling a bottle of vodka, England is crying in a corner, France is pacing, the rest are asleep). Then the Italian wakes up with a start, looks around and whispers to the others, "A-holy shit, guys! All de soldiers are asleep!" The rest of them wake up and the Italian says, "Let's-a getta out of here!"

To be continued...
