Are they any good? Which is better? Worth playing both? Does the dlc add anything substantial?

It's 80% discount on steam, hence I ask :P

Violence and Death Threats in the Forum
Guys, Yellowjacket and Thucy started this violence and "kill him" thing in the Bible thread, aimed at me, and were silenced for it. Since then Thucy actually opened a thread with the same wording (or almost) and now chaqa has jumped on the meme.

A new significant threat to the ACA
The Supreme Court will again hear a case with the potential to unravel the ACA (Obamacare).

Threads not serving purposes
Threads are now being locked, without breaking any rules whatsoever, because "they serve no purpose." (Coincidentally, said threads had a high concentration of posts critical of the mods, and of particular mods almost universally held to be hugely overreactive, in particular).

Juicing Veggies
I got this juicer and made kale juice with it. It's rather harsh. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for vegetables to make juice out of. I have some bok choy but I doubt that will be delicious in juice form.

Looking for a replacement Russia
Hello everyone, we're looking for a player who is willing to take over Russia in this game: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=149778
The game in question contains two players who know each other and failed to advertise that fact before the game, but who don't know who each other are in game.

Gunboat Game
I want a new game, but I can't handle a press game right now. Looking for 6 decent, reliable, gunboat players. I have a fair number of points, a lot of GR, and I'm terrible at GB, so consider it a donation.

The game will be WTA, 24 hrs, bet doesn't matter to me.

Does this site currently allow one to create a private game and specify in the Forum that it is FCFS to anyone having a specified minimum RR and a minimum number of games completed?
kasimax (243 D)

@doug: it is, but rr stats aren't 100 percent accurate yet.

Kestas requested that members not use RR to set up games, as the feature is not yet complete.

I'm hoping we can address that soon.

Oh, Hi Abge.
Thanks again for allowing me in your last Friends game. It was very challenging, but great to play with such good players.

You can set whatever preconditions you want to your private games. Personally, I enjoy making them as first-come first-serve on members who send me pictures of themselves in lycra catsuits.

Thanks, it was fun playing with you, too.

Wish you hadn't stabbed me though. We were doing great.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
12 Nov 14 UTC
I wish England hadn't stabbed me. The way we were arranging that 3 way with Turkey would've given me a shot at a solo. Instead we got a 5 way draw! :

Although given how dire my position was after a few years in, the fact me and Turkey both made that draw is quite extraordinary.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Yeah the end turned into a mess for sure. I was sure someone was going to throe the game.

@ATC -- Yes that's my concern. If I'm going to CD, then I'm going to CD big for every game I joined.

@Shadow -- It's not ridiculous since I guess my point is there are plenty of options for players to be snobby about. Why add another one. It's redundant.
2ndWhiteLine (2736 D(B))
12 Nov 14 UTC
There's nothing snobby about games with no CDs.
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

I was pretty damn close to throwing it when Austria was refusing to move to Piedmont, haha.

And yeah, the fact you and Austria both let Turkey live at your various points did astound me, though it was useful for me at the time to keep your units tied up there.
ag7433 (927 D(S))
12 Nov 14 UTC
I never said there was. No CD games are great. If you want to decrease the chances of CD games, and have that be a condition when a game is created, then why not use [Total Points].

Better yet spend the time to implement GR instead of RR, and then have GR be the factor.

RR is a redundant system and when implemented will have adverse effects and cause administration. Mostly it will cause a problem for reliable players who legitimately CD. My point is to invest the 'rare' development time into something more productive that can serve a dual purpose.
Doug7878 (1590 D(G))

My vote for worst mistake: Austria letting Italy into Tyrolia and supporting him into Munich.
My vote for second worst mistake: Austria not realizing that he could support CON while he took SMY (that Russia would probably cut support for him).
Austria's best - getting Italy off of him twice (by France early and by England late).

ag7433, we don't use points as a proxy for reliability because, well, points don't equate with reliability. In fact, points encourages CDs and multis because players go into CD when they get a country they don't want or they start losing. GR has the same basic issue - its not a proxy for reliability, only skill. Also, it should be noted that one or two CDs isn't going to ruin your RR, so an occasional CD due to unforeseen circumstances will not cause great harm to one's RR.

If you have a better means of measuring reliability than a statistic expressly created to measure it, then by all means, suggest one. If points were a substitute for reliability, we would not have this problem of CDs.

Italy's best: Going 6 years without a build after 1901 til 1907 and then spending the rest of the game as the second largest/joint second largest power from 1908 onwards

Italy's real best: Persuading Austria not to finish me off when France had me on the edge of defeat in 1903.

If I wanted to create a game with a CD chance to be lower, and there was an option on the New Game creation that allowed me to create a game for 5 D where only players with a total of, say, 300 [Total Points] -- On hand + In play -- could join. This would not solve the problem?

I'm sure the 80/20 rule can be applied to CD's where most of them have equal to or less than 100 total points.

And while GR measure skill; there is a direct correlation between low reliability & GR I'm sure. Do you think people create GR games only for higher competition? No. They know the player will show up and play.

But it's your guys' time, not mine. All I know is that we can't even get GR updated after a PR blitz on old members to come back to play for GR.

@ag, i think your suggestion makes the issue overly complicated. my understanding is that rr will be mainly for public games with low buy-in. i stopped joining these a while ago because the changes of a cd are just too high. you can always advertise a private game withour rr on the forum and will have a full game in less than a day, usually.

My suggestion was to simplify and avoid another new calculation/statistic to add to the site. It's already not working. Just use what we have available.

If it's not working, then it seems the dev team is doing the right thing to try and fix it.

Speed of electrons: calculated/theorised based on what observations?
I understand that you can calculate the speed of an electron if you know it's time and place at various times, but I can't imagine how one would observe these things in the first place. Presumably one observes something else and uses calculations based on a theory combined with these observations, but I'd like to know what those actual observations are.

A "Unified" Palestinian Government? I Think Not...
http://news.yahoo.com/hamas-trying-destroy-palestinian-unity-says-abbas-112457367.html I'd say having to scrap ceremonies for (however one might feel about him) a huge leader in Palestinian history due to concerns one faction might attack the other is a sign you DON'T have a unified government. Much as I dislike Abbas and Fatah, they're the better of the two factions fighting for power there...again--Hamas Hamas HAMAS destroys peace, even for fellow Palestinians.

Anyone want to post the tote board for TV's five-game series? Three games are finished, ending in solos by three different players. A fourth should end this weekend. And the fifth saw it's first elimination in 1915. Good stuff.
