Everyone on this website seems to immediately take anything someone says as offensive or an accusation. It lends a really nasty tone to the forum, and I'm tired of it. It's not like this everywhere online even, I've begun to realize.

It's not out of place or crazy or shitty to come into a thread about these photos and say "don't look at them."

I was coming into it as I myself saw it - the last time this happened, I probably looked at them on purpose. I don't remember what the last one was. But this time around, I felt differently, and realized that it's really true that, on the internet especially, people don't think about the ethics of what they view. It's like the ISIS beheading videos - there's no reason to watch it. It's not edifying. Just because something is online doesn't mean we should view it. The internet likes to treat everything as content. Not everything should be content. Some things are better left unseen.

I don't assume that, I just know that Kate Upton and Jennifer Lawrence are some of the hottest celebrities out there today, I myself think they're beautiful. So when naked pictures of them come out, of course lots of guys like me are going to immediately want to see them. But it's better to take a second and ask - should I really see them? Is that really something I'm okay with doing?

Thankfully I took a second this time, and realized this. We are all flawed, and I am just trying to help other people be true to their own morals, since I know most everyone here would agree looking at them is wrong. Yet, many who think it is wrong will still look them up. That's how porn tends to work.

I don't think calling it porn is fair. Those pictures were never taken with the intent others would see them for sexual stimulation. They may be used that way, but that's not what they inherently are. It's like if you jack off when you see a random hot girl, that doesn't make her a porn star.

Anyways, who cares if they are beautiful, it's disgusting to use stolen property for that reason.

We are all flawed in the sense that we all do things that we later agree we should not have done.

And you don't have to call it porn if you don't want, that's fair. We can call it "sexual imagery" if you want. The point is, nude pictures of pretty women affect men in a fairly predictable way, a way I have personal experience with. I don't think it's crazy to assume that there are other people on this website who have either already seen them or want to, or were thinking of doing so. Maybe not you, and if not, I'm glad.

Are you just disagreeing with me to disagree? We don't seem to be too different in our views, I think you're just being difficult for some reason. What's the big deal?

Personally i feel terrible for all those involved, especially Jennifer lawrence, they will now have to live the rest of their lives knowing those pictures are out there, and will be for all eternity (just think of that). I don't think they'll be able to look at a crowd the same way, just to think that maybe someone in that crowd saw your private pictures is horrible.

Here's the thing about this whole situation:

It wasn't just one guy. There's been an ongoing celebrity nude trading group around for years, and it happened that one of them leaked a few pictures (the first set didn't have any actual nudity, remember). Then others saw and decided to cash in, posting for people to send them Bitcoins.

The big story here is that iCloud may have been hacked. Celebrity nudes come and go, that's not a huge surprise.

Is what happened to them wrong? Yes. But it's not surprising, and it shouldn't be any different than if these were a dozen regular people.

"pretty good" because the article doesn't even mention Apple's shit security practices, which is something many have overlooked and is worth a lot of attention as JMO pointed out earlier.

I'd just like to point out that the FBI is electing to involve itself in celebrity scandals and investigate nude leaks but they can't be bothered in stopping self-centered, crooked, and militaristic cops from firing tear gas and other projectiles at citizens exercising their right to peacefully protest.

Some things never change.

This is a crime, not a scandal. They should of course also be stopping the police, but that does not make this action, in itself, wrong.
