Advice a gaming computer build
It's been a while since I popped into webdiplomacy. I need some advice on a computer build, and I know quite a few people on this site are into gaming and might be able to steer me in the right direction.

The Celebrity Phone Hacking
I'm kind of happy of the response to this, ten years ago the victims would be blamed in the media, it seems the message that it's not the victim's fault that they were violated has come across strongly. I think that wouldn't have been the case just 10 years ago

Russia is being overly aggressive in a live game
I'm playing as Ukraine in a live game, and Russia just messaged on global that if anyone helps me, they will use nukes. Nukes! What can I do?? He's already taken Crimea! Germany isn't talking to me. England is being friendly but they're not doing anything to help me. Oh and France just built a fleet in Marseilles. I think they're sending it against me! Ugh! Help!

When 2,000 people die due to government incompetence...
Why does no one care? It has been 9 years now since Hurricane Katrina and the flooding of New Orleans due to atrocious management of the Mississippi Delta by the Corps of Engineers, and no one has been held accountable aside from one sacrificial political appointee who was allowed to retire gracefully. Why? http://www.hulu.com/watch/394996

NFL Pick 'em: Pre-Week 1 Prediction Edition!
Week 1 of the 2014-15 NFL Season kicks off on Thursday with the Packers looking to get revenge for the Fail Mary vs. the *grrr* defending Super Bowl Champion Seahawks. We'll do the proper Pick 'em when that gets closer, but since we usually do playoff picks before that...this is that. So--your 6 playoff picks in both the AFC and NFC, winners in the Wild Card, Divisional, and Conference Championship rounds, and then, the Super Bowl winner...PICK 'EM! ;)

Rollerblade isn't a genericized trademark. Point fails.
Invictus (240 D)
03 Sep 14 UTC
The point wasn't that it meets the legal criteria, but rather that people use it as a general term. According to that graph Kleenex isn't genericized either, but it's still widely used. It makes just as much sense to say roller blading as it does to say Kleenex.

You should be as clear as possible when you speak. If you mean In-line Skating you should say so.
krellin (80 DX)
03 Sep 14 UTC
Hey, are you listening music on your "ipod" (no, it's a generic mp3 player)
Hey, pass me the kleenex, my nose is runny (sorry, it's generic brand facial tissue...)
Hey, I need a Q-tip to clean my ear (sorry, I only have this cotton swab on a stick...)

This **utterly** childish notion that "name brands" do not become synonymous with a specific type of object/activity is just another example of closed mindedness on the part of our favorite webdip GRINCH....

For someone that supposedly reds the dictionary to amuse himself, Putin is *woefully* ignorant of the ebb and flow of modern language, and ill-informed about the manner in which new words are added to our language.

But that's OK - every time he makes yet another obvious demonstration of his general lack of intelligence, it get's that much easier to simply dismiss everything he says.

Putin33 confuses his opinions with cosmic laws.
krellin (80 DX)
03 Sep 14 UTC
Actually, Lando, if I said "I'm going in-line skating" MOST people would ask me what that is. I would then reply "roller blading" and they would say, "Oh, why didn't you just say so."

The CLEAREST demonstration that rollerblading is the obviously the generally accepted terms is the fact that ALL of you know what it is when I use it. therefore, it is *part of the accepted language*. You fail, completely and utterly, in your argument.

Yes, your refusal to communicate using terminology that is widely used by 99% of society makes you soooooooo superior. That's why people make grimacing faces at you and walk away when you talk to them, by the way. Just a hint, Putty-baby - nobody is impressed. Nobody.

What other word do you use for escalator, Putin33? Or bubble wrap?
Putin33 (111 D)
03 Sep 14 UTC
You speak for the masses now when you're not inline skating do you?

"What other word do you use for escalator, Putin33? Or bubble wrap?"

Escalator is generic. Bubble wrap is package cushioning.
