convoy
If one convoys an army with a fleet that is being attacked (with support), does the army that is being convoyed considered breaking the support of the supporting fleet that is supporting the fleet into the convoying fleet's territory?

I'm done debating evolution
Nowadays, when people bring up how the earth is not billions of years old, but actually a couple thousand years old, at birthday parties or whatnot, I just sort of nod and smile. Evolution=fact. http://i38.tinypic.com/2 D98kyu.gif

Do You Plan to Hear the People Sing? "Les Miserables" in Theatres...
I went with friends to see it (PACKED HOUSE, which I'd never have expected, it's arguably the most popular musical ever, sure, but it's not like the town I live in is exactly a cultural hotbed that loves its musical theatre and opera) and it was...well, if you're going to see the most-beautifully sung "Les Mis" ever, you'll be utterly disappointed, but if you're going to just see a "good version of it with some good acting and some awesome cinematography...well, thoughts?

Spanish phrase for wedding card
I'm going to a wedding and the groom is a Spaniard. I thought it would be nice to write something in Spanish on the card but didn't want to grab some jumbled rubbish off of a translator. So, I'm wondering if any of you guys can give me a hand writing something nice.

A Modest Proposal (Don't Shoot!)
The 2nd Amendment is antiquated--face it, it is..."a well-regulated militia"...those are NOT the grounds upon which guns are being argued for currently, are they? This was written at a time of muskets, not machine guns. We've repealed and updated Amendments before...why don't we create a NEW Amendment creating guns, give new language--both pro and con--to the matter, so guns can be legal but we can have some sensible language on the matter?

*a NEW Amendment FOR guns, lol...an Amendment creating guns would be something, though, just write an Amendment and boom! instant uzis! :p

But honestly, doesn't that seem like...well, maybe not the most politically-feasible answer (they'll never do it) but the most logical?

Both sides have a point...
Guns should be allowable and are a freedom...
But with all freedoms, then, there are limits when they pose a threat, as guns do...
As John Stuart Mill said, your right to swing your fist ends where my face begins...

So why not create language which addresses the gun issue from THAT angle, the angle which is relevant to gun owners and lobbies today and one which gun owners and those for gun control can then have a civil and reasonable discourse over, creating language that is applicable far more to 2012 than 1812?

There are limits to freedom of speech so there should be limits to guns. There are physical limits but not real limits - i.e not limits that I can't get around with ease.

Most firearm related crimes are handgun related. If you want gun control, control handguns. Here are some statistics:

According to the Victim Survey (NCVS), 25% of the victims of rape and sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated assault in 1993 faced an offender armed with a handgun. Of all firearm-related crime reported to the survey, 86% involved handguns.

The FBI's Supplemental Homicide Reports show that in 1993 57% of all murders were committed with handguns, 3% with rifles, 5% with shotguns, and 5% with firearms where the type was unknown.

The 1991 Survey of State Prison Inmates found that violent inmates who used a weapon were more likely to use a handgun than any other weapon; 24% of all violent inmates reported that they used a handgun. Of all inmates, 13% reported carrying a handgun when they committed the offense for which they were serving time.

Great, ban handguns and Assault rifles. Sounds great!

How's this as a starting point:

1) Double-barreled shotguns/single-action rifles for hunting/farmers
2) Revolvers for sport and protection

The real problem here is magazine size; the above weapons are very limited in that regard and can't be modified to hold more rounds.

All other weapons should be bought by the Government and either destroyed or given to police stations or the military.

@dubm - Those numbers are roughly 20 years old. What are the current statistics for violent crime involving fireamrs, and what is the percentage of those crimes committed by the registered owner of the handgun?

I'm all for a consitutional amendment. I'd also be in favor of going back to the idea of national defense being largely provided by militias, with a small standing army/navy/air force. It's a lot less tempting to run around playing World Policeman with state militias.

I oppose it. I think the current amendment is important and, once you take the time to learn what they actually meant, so is the motivation. I'm just stating my position, not supporting it, less I instigate a violation of 2wl's moratorium. ; )

The First Amendment was written when "the Press" was a guy rolling paper over inked wooden blocks. It's obviously obsolete.

Five-way game?
Hey, sorry to ask (as I assume this is addressed somewhere), but is there a way to elect to play a five player game (as in, I have four friends I want to play with).
Other sites allow this, but I like the webDiplomacy interface so I'd prefer to do it here if I can.
