@ghug - His Peak is for the month anyhow. It isn't an all-time, so what he had Peak in March is irrelavent compared to April's Peak. We really need to hear what he is talking about for certain, though. But if the term is "Peak" then it is the high point for the month only.

The March numbers are based on the incorrect calculations. The April numbers are based on the corrected calculations. The April "changed rating"/"changed ranking" are based on what the corrected calculations for March would have been.

So you were 14th last month with the incorrect calculation. But with the corrected calculation would have been 11th. So as far as April is concerned, you went from 11th to 7th.

Similarly, last month's peak rating was based on the incorrect calculations. This month's peak rating is based on the corrected calculations. This month's numbers reflect what should have been.

Most players took a small rating hit for having played someone that had played a PPSC World game. But depending on your neighbors and whether you or they had played any themselves, your ranking may have gone up or down.

Sorry for the confusion caused by this correction, but it needed to be made right. As it was, if you played PPSC World games, you had a reward that was 2.5 times out of proportion to the smaller risk.

@Draugnar, the Peak Rating is the all time rating. It is not the peak for the month. It is the highest an individual's rating has ever been.

@Hellenic - You could, in theory, have your peak go up but your end rating drop. Let's say you ended February on your peak so you GR is the same as peak for the month, then you win the first game in march followed by a losing streak the likes of which the world has never seen before. Your peak would go up for that first win, but your final for the month would more than likely drop.

Think of it like the stock market. You have a high, a low, an open, and a close. The only guarantee is that open and close will never be higher than high or lower than low and higher will be at or above low for the given period.

@Draug, that's what Hellenic thought originally, then he realized that Leif was actually saying that his peak rating had gone down between months, which could only have come as a result to the changes Alderian made.

@ghug - Peak can go down too. Peak is only for that month. Month to month means nothing on Peak. Only if he *actually* meant "All-Time" would it apply.

So, You peak mid-february then have a few months so your end of month is slightly lower. The next month you do nothing but lose so your "peak" is whatever you started the month at which was your current rating - lower than your previous months peak.. Peak to peak is irrelevant.

He is comparing Peak to Peak on a month to month basis. One month may be higher or lower than the next as peak is reset and for *that month only*.

I don't thing that's right Draug. My rating dropped from 227 in January to 188 in March, but my peak was at 236 for both months.

You are incorrect here. If you read Alderian's comments more carefully, you will see that the reason Leif's peak GR went down is because the 212.5ish one was incorrectly calculated (an overestimation if you will) and the 209.6ish is the correct one after Alderian found the errors. Essentially all of us "lost" some GR due to the correct because we did not gain as much GR from wins/draws from the people who gained more than they were supposed to with their PPSC world map games. So, it's a trickle effect that affected almost everybody.

Peak GR does NOT reset. The peak GR is ALWAYS your all time GR.
