Panic--Unable to issue orders
I've tried to save/ready orders from IE8, Firefox, and Chrome on my windows 7 machine (from which up until now I've been able to) and the page just seems to hang even if I leave it for ~5 mins. Same result from Firefox and Chrome on my Ubuntu machine.Obviously I can post messages so I don't know what's going on...Anybody have ideas to help?

I have never encountered it... Did you try to reboot? (I know, silly, but maybe it will work...)
Leif_Syverson (271 D)

yes

Standard windows troubleshooting procedure:
1. Do you have internet access? (if no go to step 3)
2. Google your problem... did you find answer? (if no go to step 3)
3. Reboot.. Problem solved?
4. Perform sacrificial squirrel ritual, chant voodoo curses, and burn incense... Problem solved? (if no go to step 3)
5. Turn the computer upside down and shake... Problem solved? (if no go to step 3)
6. Blue screen of death? (if no go to step 3)
7. Purchase new solid state HD to replace your last from shaking too hard. (for good measure repeat step 3)
8. Install OS X or Linux (something seems missing after this step.. I'm sure there's more but I can't quite figure it out.. weird)
9. Go to a support group because you've caught yourself trying to reboot your toaster, your razor, your garage door opener, the vending machine, your math book, and your girlfriend/wife.. (if no luck, repeat step 3)

Ah, but did you clear your cache? Although that seems less likely an issue when trying from multiple browsers on multiple computers. But I do that step before the squirrel sacrifice usually. Saves on the squirrel budget.

Have you tried setting all the orders back to Hold and seen if you could save that?

Squirrel "budget,"? Have you BEEN outside recently?

The suckers built a little tank out of wood. They haven't figured out gunpowder, but when they do...

Cleared the cache.. stole every last nut that Scratt or any of his relatives ever laid eyes on, browsed XKCD for 20 mins to see if I'd missed any other possible debug steps, and then found someone's phone to submit orders from.. But I still have the problem for next order cycle..
Leif_Syverson (271 D)

btw.. don't every say "gunpowder" and "nut" aloud in the same sentence, that would be dire if the squirrels ever found out..

Are you in more than one game? And if so, is it happening on one, some, or all of them?

Once the current phase is over, if it is still happening the next phase you have orders, you probably should email the mods to see if they can figure anything out. You can find the mod email at the bottom of the Rules page under the Help link up near the top.

Live, but not at such a frantic pace
I have often wanted to play live, but not at such a frantic pace as five minute turns. Doesn't leave much time for diplomacy.
I wonder if there are others who would like to "play live" for a couple hours and then finish up on a 12 hour or 24 hour schedule.
Has anyone suggested that before? Is there a list of players somewhere who are interested in such an arrangement?

Multi-Account Check, Game ID 49803
What's the procedure for requesting a multi-accounting check? Please take a look at Game ID 49803. France is going to win. I'd just like to make sure that it was a fair win given that Italy supported him throughout the entire game. Thank you.

The *Ultimate* Diplomacy Player from History
Nominate your own or discuss the current list.

I'll start by nominating Napolean Bonaparte. Skilled diplomate, ruthless military strategist. Escaped from more than one tight spot and was well liked by people who should have known better and were screwed because of it.

FireFox 4.0.1
Okay, so far I'm liking it. It does seem to load pages MUCH faster than 3.6.x. And they do claim their new javascript engine is much faster too. I'd be really interested to hear from someone playing a World map game to hear if it does indeed work better for calculating the enumerable convoy routes.
