I couldn't be calmer. But (as i said in our game) agreeing to be allies and share info before the game even begins is what is known as Meta-gaming which is equally not-so-cool. And no reason to get all "Brah Get a life" on me. I'm just raising a valid concern.

Hmm, well, I'm not sure about multi-accounting. I've emailed one of them about something different, but I think those accounts are different people (may be proved wrong though). Knowing someone outside the game isn't meta-gaming. It's meta-gaming if you refuse to treat those you know outside the game in the same way you treat those you know within it.

He's not and never was. Indeed, that was actually his second account, which I have now banned. I hope he was just angry and won't do that again so I haven't banned the other. However, more bad behaviour and that will go too.

If they ally because they agreed to before the game starts then yes. Just making that agreement is slightly difficult to judge, because it could be they have no intention of working with their friend, even if they said they would!
Sharing information with people who're not your allies is a totally legitimate strategy.

The three fellows you have are just friends, but some of them did have multiple accounts and were subsequently banned. To all of you, you can make a new account if you want, but no metagaming. This means that if you play with your IRL friends you have to be prepared to stab them and not just gang up on the other players.

Those accounts are, but they are welcome to come back as long as they keep to one account and do not metagame. You don't need shenanigans to enjoy Diplomacy.

Why are you letting him back on? He's a multi-accounter and he clearly has a bad attitude considering his above posts. Didn't we learn that these type of people waste their second chances?

Centurian, I think it's worth a shot. I've definitely had success with this before, in fact, only braddles has been a repeat offender so far. I usually give most multi accounters a chance to keep one account. I think it creates a better atmosphere, especially once they've learned their lesson, and at the same time it makes it much easier to keep tabs on them to make sure they're not multi accounting again. It's not like I can actively prevent them from re-joining, I'd rather have it happen on my terms.

hofmeister, I'll actually just plain unban zukoman, and he can carry on using that account if he wishes. He'll be back at 100 points. Tell him not to muck it up again.

I agree with Chrispminis. Once people realize "you WILL get caught" and that there are consequences, they tend to play fair... even more so now that they know a mod has their eye on them, so they have to be extra careful not to even look like they are doing something bad...
