What are "Likes?"
I see people have counts of likes in their profiles. What are those and what sets them?
wjessop (100 DX)

They're used to judge how popular people's posts are.

Example:
Jamiet99uk = Likes: 7074 / Liked: 2707
brainbomb = Likes: 405 / Liked: 128
ishirkmywork (1401 D)

I think they are the "+1"s on forum posts.

Likes are given or received by pressing the '+1' feature on a post in the forum.

So, on your profile:

Likes = how many times you have given a +1
Liked = how many times you have received a +1

Some people are extremely stingy with how many likes they give to others.

Example:
Jeff Kuta = Likes: 60 / Liked: 724
Maniac = Likes: 153 / Liked: 1200

The proper way to measure how popular someones posts are is to look at the number of posts they've made and compare it to how many likes they've gotten (unless you play mafia).

Example:
LeonWalras = Forum posts: 103 - Liked: 277.

They are meaningless nonsense that serve as an amusing diversion to some and something of an unhelpful obsession to others. Not too many years ago it was a tradition on this site to write

"+1"

in a post to show your appreciation of another member's comment. The +1 feature has since taken over and does the same thing anonymously, which has taken away most of what meaning it may have once had. Some people use it to shoe genuine appreciation. Some people use it to sow mischief by encouraging the lunatic side in a forum argument.

Likes are akin to prayers. The more likes you get, the more god approves of you. Cancer has been known to be cured through the power of likes.

Pretty sure the 153 likes I've given out date back to when one could like ones' own posts.

Thanks guys. I had harbored a secret hope that it was a mostly hidden social component that would allow me to locate people who I might like to play with again. But this makes sense too. :-)

Balon Greyjoy
So I find it interesting that based on the photos for Season 6 the show appears poised to go forward with the Ironborn Plot. I feel like they sort of "missed the boat" (ahah) on this. Balon should have died way back in Season 3. Now ironically enough by pacing it out the way they have you could argue Balon won the war of the five kings. (Hes the only one still alive among them!!)

figured the fracking thread was popular. Thought maybe we could combine those ideas and discuss the pro's and con's of such. I think its all about being fair however. We should be sterilizing our meat products properly.

How do you pick your allies?
Do you go into a game with a preconceived idea of who you want to ally with? Do you choose based on the country, the press, or the personalities? Do you choose your ally based on your target's press, or your ally's press? What goes in to your decision process?

Making a parametric description
Hi guys,
I want to make a parametric description as the basis for my logo, so it has to look pretty enough for that. Can I create the graph online or using some downloadable software? My graphic calculator doesn't really make it a pretty picture.
I just want to enter the parameters etc. and print the result.

Quick question from a beginner.
Is the outcome of this scenario that no one moves or wins a territory?
Unit in territory A supports unit in B to move to C (Player One)
Unit in territory D supports unit in C to move to B (Player Two)
Thanks in advance for any reply to clarify this.
