I'm all for Iroquois passports' legitimacy, as long as I can issue my own passports and have other polities recognize them as valid.

I propose they hurry up and conform to international standards. In the meantime, the US or Canada could issue temporary "emergency" passports to the team so they could play.

They offered that but the Iroquois refused.

Their basis for the refusal is that they believe they have the right to issue their own passports since they are guaranteed the right to self-determination by the UN's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

It reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw a while ago. All it said was this:

"Honor Indian Treaties."

It's been a few days, so correct me if I'm wrong. Didn't their passports fail to conform to an int'l standard? I don't have a problem with a legit tribe having it's own passports if the federal government recognizes that as a right; however, if they go that route the indian nation should make sure their documents are up to recognized specs.

Hey - the US honors Indian treaties. We give the bastards all the booze and casinos they want and let them illegally fish in our waters. Beyond that, if the *rest* of the fucking world wants to say - "Hey, didn't you fuckers get your ASSES KICKED by those USofA bastards....better get you-self a past-port..." then what the fuck? It ain't the United State's fault that they are just a **pretend** fucking country with a *8pretend** fucking passport.

Exactly the problem yayager. The tribe refuses to accept an alternative that would allow them to continue until such time as their passports meet international standards. This isn't England being stubborn. This is a legitimate concern for the international community at large and they are being treated with great respect especially considering their disrespect at rejecting the USA's more than generous offer.
