Anyone here ever played Kingmaker, Britannica or Conquest of the Empire?

As far as the Total War series goes, I am a fan of MTWII, Rome was good (and I haven't played Empire or Napoleon yet) but MTWII was just so much more all encompassing.

I have to go for Civilization Series... and Risk, of course.

Do you mean Britannia? Great game. I played in a competitive Britannia tournament once (I think they just made up the rules as they went along but we played through the entire sixteen turns twice in a day which was a result as far as I was concerned).
Kingmaker I saw but never played.

Original Civ - the board game.

Civ IV with the Mod TRM (Total Realism Mod) is better.

Sid Meier's Civilization pc game(III and IV)

On Napoleon, its great I've gotten through the Italian and Egyptian campaigns and some of the historic battles, amazing game so far.

Many of the games listed above are not actually strategy games. They are tactical games.

@Parallelopiped - you are right, I did mean Britannia. 2 games in one day, that's pretty intense, I've played maybe 4 games or something, they usually take like 5-6 hours with the group I play with (but we play with 5 people). Also the Civ board game is really fun, but I don't know a lot of people who play advanced on it.

@kreilly89 - Cool, I bought Empire a while ago, but I need a good weekend where I can play it nonstop, I haven't really scratched the surface yet.

Could someone make me a list of good tactical/strategy board games?
Nothing with aliens, star trek or shit like that pls.

I love the Total war series, personally i prefer the roman era because that period of history is more interesting for me but med twII is the better game re graphics and gameplay. i have Empires but...im not just that much of a fan of musket and canon battles, they lack the grit and heroics of a good bladed affair.

a long time ago I used to love a game called colonisation.... similar to Civ, think it was also a sid meiers one. Always wished they'd made it multi-player.

I used to play colonization when I was 10....I think they remade it actually.

But yeah, Civilization is the best...I remember playing Civ 1 when I about 7 or 8. I was a bit disappointed with Civ Revolution as that seemed to be Civilization for dummies....

Looking forward to Civ V btw, sounds like they're going to be adding quite a lot to the original formula this time around, it's a gamble but it could be great

Number one would be Rise of Nations and Number two Company of Heroes (favorite RTS games anyway).

Empire - the original, using text to draw the maps ".+aAtTsSfFdDcCbB", was written in Fortran for the PDP-11.

CIV V ? cant wait, civ is definitely a value for money game compared to most, the hours Ive spent on that..... . I hope they expand the company/trading system substantially.

Agricola, Puerto Rico, and Power Grid.
