CD decision too aggressive?
I have seen two players CD in games today, where it didn't look correct. In both cases, there last two moves were ones which they didn't have any choice (forced disband in retreat or build phase). Perhaps it is just coincidence, but has anyone else noticed this?

Please delete my account
Then delete this thread. You owe us an option to delete our accounts. It should be next on your TODO list.
Thanks.
I want to quit because I found play by email simpler and more satisfying. This whole betting thing really drives me round the bend(especially, that is) and I'd like to have my account removed for that and several other reason.
On a happier note, good work on the webpage!

is this a perfect in penatrable stalemate line by R/A/I or should me and England push on trying to decide wheatheror not to vote draw?
don't answer if this breaks the "don't discuss ongoing games" rule
orathaic (1009 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
if i say yes, but then refuse to explain how to break it will that help answer your quesiton?
orathaic (1009 D(B))

i must say, my feel for stalemates lines is not hte best, but have a look here: http://www.diplom.org/Online/StalematesAtoY/visual.htm

thanks but i don't see my position in there. I think its Italies army in Ukr that holds this together
Geofram (130 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
It's not worth the effort it would take to be in a position to possibly break the line.
Le_Roi (913 D)
24 Nov 09 UTC
Oy, you two! Quiet!
@denis- I suggest pressing forward
I'll give a detailed explanation in a bit, if that's alright....
denis (864 D)
24 Nov 09 UTC
ya its amazing how much thatarmy changes things eh?
Geofram (130 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
That army has nothing to do with it. The weak point in the line is Italy's fleets.
Le_Roi (913 D)
24 Nov 09 UTC
Oops. Not you two.
Why did I think Geofram and orathaic were in that game?
Sorry for the unneeded shouting.
But basically, if the army gets convoyed back to the mainland, and the fleet in North Africa gets to Tunis, you could sac Tunis to move it to Tyrr, and move in from there.
It'll be slow going, but you could plow through.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
that page has a progressive list of lines, and the place on the 3x3 grid are where on the map the line is...

so when you click on one it brings you to similar ones which are bigger or smaller...

@le roi: can't Tyr be protected by ionian sea, and voilá stale mate?
(this is why we shouldn't talk about on-going games)

looking at the history of that game, i'm rather impressed by the co-ordination of the eastern powers against E-G from the time france stopped being a threat to italy, to the time when E-G became a bigger threat they managed to do a pretty good job getting to where they are now.... well done.

orathaic (1009 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
i suggest not acing like you've got an unshakeable alliance and never getting into the position of being stalemated.

diplome, talk about balance of power. Tell one player you're willing to attack another to keep them from getting too powerful, and then do. Pull off if they attack you and threaten that you will let the other guy win. (your threats are more useful when you follow through.)

diplome the other guy aswell.

don't get into alliances with people who are so close to you that the very thought of attacking them means so many troops (because of your rather impressively long but unmanned border) you can't possible attack with 2 years movement and them noticing...

i'd refer you to : http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=14470
but only becuase i'm proud of how the axis powers got to their agreed draw.

lots of troops along those borders almost all the time. (i'd say it would have gone to a stalemate eventually if we had stabbed someone, but as it's a league game we all wanted 4 D and not being in front of all the other league players... we can risk the solos in the last game of our league)

ItsPublic Press just so you know so diploming is in front of everyone and I've been trying check the chat archive.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
you can say things like, "i'm going to stop germany from growing too much, but not devote enough troops to kill him." in the global chat.

but, yeah, i didn't notice it was public press, that probably changes things.

no, the 'unwritten' rule is that it's not a good idea to talk about on-going games.

but if he had messaged me, he could have gotten the same advice i've given, without you knowing about it...
