CD decision too aggressive?
I have seen two players CD in games today, where it didn't look correct. In both cases, there last two moves were ones which they didn't have any choice (forced disband in retreat or build phase). Perhaps it is just coincidence, but has anyone else noticed this?

Please delete my account
Then delete this thread. You owe us an option to delete our accounts. It should be next on your TODO list.
Thanks.
I want to quit because I found play by email simpler and more satisfying. This whole betting thing really drives me round the bend(especially, that is) and I'd like to have my account removed for that and several other reason.
On a happier note, good work on the webpage!

Personally, I want to rule Freedonia, cigar and all, and taking Mr. Firefly's advice, my first law: If any man should come between a husband and his bride, we find which one she prefers by letting her decide, if she prefers the other one the husband stepsoutside, we stand him up against the wall and POP! goes the weasel!" I was france. Is there any way to fix this or get my points back or something?

Red Squirrel (856 D)

I would also like to comment on the amount of cheating in this game, particularly between italy and russia. It was no-in-game-messaging and they were supporting each other all over the map. Italy's account was even creating today. I also noticed those two players are in another game together.
Geofram (130 D(B))

I like being over 300!
But it is only fair that France at least get an explanation and his bet back, perhaps even half the points of the game for sticking around.

The game was rife with suspicious playing, I e-mailed the mods about some of the players only to see others doing the same. It was awful.

We only held back the person(s) playing Italy and Russia through good guesses and a silent agreement not to attack each other. Shame Turkey didn't get to survive, he was the only other one I trusted.
Red Squirrel (856 D)
23 Nov 09 UTC
@ Geofram- good game. glad we could beat italy and russia with only luck and a silent agreement but you're right i would like an explanation as to why you won. doesnt really make sense but its no big deal. shame tho it was WTA and I was left empty-handed.
Geofram (130 D(B))

It has something to do with players going CD after only missing one turn.
You missed the turn before the game ended and even though you entered moves in the Autumn, it made you go CD.

It was doing that to players in the game all night.
Anyway, I need to get out of this chair and make some food!
Draugnar (0 DX)
23 Nov 09 UTC
@Red Squirrel (we have a local restaurant "chain" named that in Cincinnati and a town known for their actual red aquirrels, but I digress). Geofram can tell you that cooperation doesn't mean cheating in a gunboat. I wasn't in this and haven't looked at all the moves, but it is quite possible they were good at reading each other's move and gaining insights from them.
Geofram (130 D(B))
23 Nov 09 UTC
Draugnar, you and I both know how creative one can be in gunboat communication, but once you look at the map, you'll see that could not of been the case with Italy and Russia.

Look at Autumn 1904, that was the start of the madness.
ag7433 (927 D(S))
23 Nov 09 UTC

@draugnar. I was in the game. Doing what they did is impossible without communicating or being the same person. I want this game canceled and my points and ghost rating returned. The entire thing was a scam.
GoonerChris (100 D)

If you have 17 SC's, and Geofram has 17 SC's, Geofram still has more SC's than you.
Geofram (130 D(B))
23 Nov 09 UTC
Whoa now ag7433, I stayed up until almost 4:00AM EST refusing to allow that pair/person to win. Had you not left, that game would have been over by 2:00AM.

This game should not be cancelled. And if anyone deserves points, it is Red Squirell for sticking to it and then being forced into CD by a glitch. I have experienced cheating before and had it recognised by the moderators. The game was not cancelled, points were not refunded.

I am in agreeance with you that a formal inquiry should be performed into this matter and the results hopefully made public. But I'm rather proud of France's and my own ingenuity, and having the game cancelled would not be a fair outcome for those that stuck to it in the end.

@GoonerChris, I'm glad someone finally recognised the Geofram Phenomenon.
ag7433 (927 D(S))
23 Nov 09 UTC
Just because you stuck around doesn't mean that the game was less of a fraud. My guess is that if I stuck around you and france would not have allied. I'm suspicious about every single player and the entire dynamic. I have been in many games with confirmed cheaters and normally they are forced to draw. Because this was live, the mods couldn't do it on time. They need to correct the result.
tilMletokill (100 D)

It wouldnt of mattered any way E had Munich and Belgium
Geofram (130 D(B))
23 Nov 09 UTC
The last time I encountered a cheater, he was banned, any games involving said cheater were paused, someone took up his CD, the game resumed from the pause including all the damage that the cheater had done.

End. Of. Story.

On more relevant matters, bearman and stubbs have been banned.

@tilMletokill, my goal was to basically have France by the bollocks and force him to draw. Once he missed the turn, I didn't have to do that, so I moved out of Munich. That year ended with France at 17 and England at 17. Could I have won? Probably. But I would have drawn, and that would have happened had the game not glitched.

It looks like Red Squirrel went CD, is the glitch that he shouldn't have gone CD?
Geofram (130 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
Right Kestas, he only missed one turn. And the turn he went CD in, he had orders entered and they processed.
kestasjk (95 DMod(P))

Found a bug in how missed phases are handled, uploading the fixed code now. Are you guys okay with a draw?
Geofram (130 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
Between Red Squirrel and myself? 17-17 split was my intention and it seems that was what Red Squirrel wanted as well.
Geofram (130 D(B))
24 Nov 09 UTC
Thank you Kestas.
Does this mean that players will not CD in live games so easily?
We had a real issue with it last night.
Red Squirrel (856 D)
24 Nov 09 UTC
Thanks Kestas. yes a draw was fine with me
kestasjk (95 DMod(P))
24 Nov 09 UTC
Hopefully Geofram, because of a bug it was checking in the wrong place for whether players had missed a phase, so if games were moving forward in less than 3 minutes players could have their missedPhases counter go up without getting reset correctly
