Anyone interested in playing a live game?

We'd create a game, put a 1 hour limit on it, but the phases would be more like 20 minutes. Start at 3pm EST? Have 3 interested so far.

sexism in diplomacy

I just noticed that the gamemaster assumes all players are males.
example "GameMaster: chelsea has withdrawn his vote for a pause"

I think this needs to be changed in the next update

Variant idea:

Throughout the game, your statements must either all be complete lies or complete truths. You choose one set at the beginning of the game and do not switch mid-game.

Regardless of whether there is truth to the aforementioned having multiple accounts; this same person accused me of running multiple accounts during a game we were in. Needless to say, he is quick on the trigger finger due to the natural paranoia the game so adeptly provides, or he truly believes that in many of the games he's in, he's playing just a couple opponents instead of the six.

I believe you did write the message to me within the global board; insofar as claiming you had formally reported me. As stated above, I did not claim any truth or lack thereof to the profiles mentioned in your post, but I can most firmly and justifiably state that your instincts are not always correct, as you were quite incorrect when it came to me.

As a matter of fact, I don't recall any apologies or even additional responses when I questioned why you so strongly ( and incorrectly, I might add) opined about my supposed multiple accounts. Simply an accusation, nothing to substantiate, and nothing more to follow.

It's low, but it's not against the rules to try to convince everyone else that someone is multiaccounting when they really aren't (in the sense that practically nothing is against the rules in Diplomacy).

That said, I would never do it myself.

Personally, it would seem to defeat the purpose to multi-account (funny using that as a verb) and join the same game. What fun is allying w/ yourself? I can see doing it to try to play more games, but then I would think you'd either be less effective, or literally be playing all the time.

Though it would also be interesting to see if you can hold conversations in the game w/ the other countries w/o confusing which of your country's perspectives you were communicating from.

Unoriginal Original Thoughts

Have you ever come up with a fantastic thought or idea, only to find out it's been done before? Tell us about it.

This just happened to me and I'd like to share my frustration. In addition, I'd like for us as a community to coin a succinct word for this phenomenon. Extra irony points if someone finds a word that already describes this.

Leagues: 9 spaces left!
