I wanted to check the opinions (and maybe gather people interested) to try out something. Haven't check if such variants are already out there and have been tested - would appreciate all feedback.

What ever happened with Hicham and Tux (12966 and 12967)?
There was a post earlier today that is completely gone about their suspicious consecutive numbers and they nearly every game one is in, so is the other. That post is no where to be found although older ones that haven't had new messages since then are. So what happened?

phpDip Mobile?
Anyone have trouble accessing this from a phone? I'm using a Blackberry Storm 9530 and whenever I view a game board my chat just appears as a long list instead of having its own window with its own scroll-bar. It will go behind the map, so if I haven't talked with the person much their message gets hidden. Then it will continue down, overlapping with order information, etc. as far down as it has to.

Anyone else had anything like this? More importantly, anyone know the fix?

Lots of small-pot WTA games
I'm setting up a bunch of small-pot WTA games, with various point-levels and timescales. Anyone wanting to play WTA is invited to join some. If too many take off, then I'll CD out of a few; I can't really cope with more than five turn finishes per day.

What are your favorite and least favorite countries to play as and why?
Favorite: France. You've got good sea room for fleets, and it has excellent position on defense. I was attacked by both England and Germany at the beginning of the last game I won. I was able to fight my way back up my country by myself and eventually win. First country I ever played as well.

Trying to set up games
I have been looking around for standard time gams (24 hours or something like that) but all I find are games with 5-10 point buyins. If anyone wants to try something a little more serious(40-60 points) post here. I made a game before but no one had joined it so it seems to me all the interest is either in tiny point games or in 100+ point games that I don't realy want to play yet.

This is inexplicable.
I have a very, very strange problem, and it's not just this game.
SirBayer (480 D)
10 Feb 09 UTC
I've spoke of this before. I entered one move, got another. I know it's happened again here, but something inutterably weird happened to me today.

I was working on my precalc work, doing a problem that I could veritably recite from memory for you. I very, very clearly remember doing the problem, doing its math, and writing it down.

A few minutes later, it was just GONE. Never there.

Now tell me. Could I thought I have done it but fallen asleep? It seems unlikely, but not impossible. It should be noted my answers were correct.
Chrispminis (916 D)
10 Feb 09 UTC
Wow. That's eerie. Though I have done similar things in my sleep... I usually figure out that I'd done it in my sleep. You might have to experiment with yourself because clearly something wacky is going on. Are you on any substances? =D
Chrispminis (916 D)
10 Feb 09 UTC
Might you consider a psychiatrist if this continues?
Watching too much "Heroes"?
SirBayer (480 D)
10 Feb 09 UTC
I am not on substances, nor am I watching Heroes. I've like... never seen it.

Maybe I'm sleeping. I dreamed that I wrote it and I didn't. But... that just doesn't make sense to me, it's not good enough. I'm not making PHP moves in my sleep, and yet something's surely going wrong here too.
philcore (317 D(S))
10 Feb 09 UTC
Post on the developer forum for your precalc class - mabey there's an error in the code.

;-)

By the way - what exactly is precalc - Calc is essentially 2 things: derivatives and integrals. You're either doing them or your not, so what are you learning that they are calling "pre" calc?
SirBayer (480 D)
10 Feb 09 UTC
Uhm...

precalc...

Well, at the moment what I'm doing is trigonometric identities. I'm one year away from proper calculus, and this is sort of Saxon's gapfiller for the year of geometry they don't do separately, I believe.
philcore (317 D(S))
10 Feb 09 UTC
oh I see - so your learning all the things that you'll be taking derivatives of then. That makes sense. Gotta know about Sin and Cos before you start calculusing all over them.

Probably learning limits, exponent rules, Sums and Series and the like too.
Onar (131 D)
10 Feb 09 UTC
I took precalc, and you hit that right on the nose...

As to your missing moments, I've had dreams about games on this site before... I wouldn't rule it out. Either that, or you have a split-personality that hates you.
SirBayer (480 D)
10 Feb 09 UTC
I think it's the second one, that would explain EVERYTHING.

Seriously, it's so weird, I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonight wondering if the various states of objects outside my room will stay the same...

Dexter.Morgan (135 D)

Have you considered the possibility that you simply mislaid the sheet of paper that you worked the problem on? (Or that a roommate or friend is messing with you). Often I find it's something like me getting up to change a CD or something and setting the paper down in some odd spot like a shelf and forgetting instantly that I did that. I find it hours or days later... and only then vaguely remember doing it.

I had a dream once about a physics problem, something about the electric field at some point P with perpendicular concentric rings expanding out into infinity each with equal space between them, and each ring containing (3/2)n charges than the ring preceding it, anyway, that's not important. the important thing is that in my dream i thought of a pretty clever way to evaluate the problem (which i had never seen before), and the very next morning, the same damn problem was on my physics final. I asked the professor if he had shown the problem before or there was anyway i could have seen it before the test, and he said that he had never given it on a test before and took it from a different text than we were using.... i was completely creeped out... and pleased... but mostly creeped

Premonition?

Or premonAWESOME?
SirBayer (480 D)
11 Feb 09 UTC
I'm gonna have to go with premonAWESOME.

And Dexter, the problem was on a sheet with a lot of other problems, I know it was. It disappeared off of the ANSWER SHEET, not a sheet for itself.

Which is what's so darned trippy, it's like someone erased it...

The world is also probably in my imagination, and if that's the truth, then I'm gonna have some fun with it.

Chrispminis (916 D)
11 Feb 09 UTC
Ah, I've had similar things happen.

Once a friend of mine started telling me a story of how her friend bit into a KitKat, and I finished the story for her going, "Yeah and she found a maggot in her KitKat and now she gets free KitKat bars. You already told me this story." But she was like, "No... this happened just four days ago and she only found out she'd be getting free KitKats yesterday..." It turns out that she hadn't talked to me between four days ago and that day and I hadn't talked to her since the weekend before last. It was creepy... but in all likelihood she HAD to have told me... I just can't remember when and we can't figure out how I could have possibly heard about it...

Also once a friend came down into my basement and said, "Hey, you know what I never knew was a word until now?" and suddenly it popped into my head and without skipping a beat I said, "Bicurious?" Her jaw just sort of dropped and she said, "Yeah... How did you know?!" I had no idea how I knew either... it was just an out of the blue guess...
jman777 (407 D)
11 Feb 09 UTC
That happens to me alot aswell. mainly when I've spent alot of time with a person. but it is also limited to sertain people. one time I was at an airport with someone, we were transferring flights, and we got to this place where you could take a little shopping cart and put all your luggage on (if you had multiple bags, which I didn't). so he grabbed one and I thought in my mind "oh, ok, I don't need to grab one cause if I really need one I can just use his". and then like less then a minute later he says to me "don't think that I'm going to let you use my cart". and there's been 2 or 3 other times where that type of thing has happened with us. it's really wierd....................

So Chrispminis a friend walks into your basement and sees you and thinks "Bicurious" and your in your basement alone before she arrives and when she asks you about a word the first word that springs to mind is "Bicurious" Nope, this one got me beat!
Draugnar (0 DX)

Did it have something to do with the gay pr0n on your computer but the naked chick posters on the wall?
Onar (131 D)

Bicurious is a word...?
Pandarsenic (1485 D)

Let's see, do I have any weird ones...

I have approximately 100% consistently predicted which guys are going to be assholes to girls I know when they get together, but I never say anything because I dismiss it as "nonsense." It doesn't work for girls to guys, though. That isn't that amazing...

Oh, yesterday I dodged a puck flying at my head - as in ducking - before I turned and saw it. That was awesome. Props ensued. XD

I know there are more, I'll post them later if I think of them.
Onar (131 D)
11 Feb 09 UTC
Hm, I'm too normal for all that. Either that, or all my creative energies are channeled elsewhere.
Chrispminis (916 D)
12 Feb 09 UTC
Haha no actually the coincidence was that I had just watched the South Park episode where Butters gets sent to the gay-curing camp and bicurious shows up in that episode a lot. And my friend had just heard her Dad say it. The gay pr0n and naked chick posters were just a coincidence.
Thucydides (864 D(B))

It could be the sleeping thing... I have had some pretty weird mind slips like that. Take for instance having thought I read a whole book, even remembering pages of it, when I knew I had never read it before... the book was new and I never owned a different copy. I actually remembered specific sentences though. Explain THAT.

The best I could come up with at the time was that I had read bits of it as a kid from the library or something and had just forgot... but the book was Slaughterhouse-Five... so that's just unlikely. But since it is that book... it's kind of ironic, like I got unstuck in time or somesuch nonsense lol.

Chrispminis (916 D)

Panda, I get the same thing. If I had dangermouse's user ID I might go insane. My room number is 222, I always happen to look at the clock at 2:22 and I've a couple of ticket barcodes end in 222. Obviously I know this is just confirmation bias because I never notice when I see other numbers or when I look at the clock at a random time, like now...
SirBayer (480 D)
12 Feb 09 UTC
The only number I will ever accept as appearing altogether too often is 42. Oh, or 3045, since on a calculator upsidedown that's "shoe". I might be worried if I get 1134.
