Funny how people concentrate on the Iraqi dead because of the occupation - but forget about those who died before the invasion.

And I'm not talking about those who died because of Saddam Hussein (nobody seemed to care at the time anyway, else wouldn't have we invaded?) or the Iran Iraq war (the war where the West gave weapons to both side...).

I'm talking about the children who died of deprivation due to the sanctions - post First Gulf War. Can someone hazard a number?

jasperleeabc - Before you tell me to 'think before saying', how about YOU think about saying. The Radical Muslims would continue attacking us even if we bugged out right now, no matter what you say. So, before you say that its entirely out fault, or entirely the governments fault, you should learn WHY they hate us, not just that they hate us.

They don't hate us that we have invaded Iraq or Afghanistan (Remember, 9/11 happened BEFORE EITHER WAR), they hate us for what we stand for; a non-theological society that has looser morals than they do. They hate that our women walk around with any amount of clothing on that they wish, and they hate that we're mostly Christian. Why is everyone in this topic being so vitriolic? In my experience, it is very difficult to change someone's mind by insulting them. In fact, it works very little. If you really think the United States has been a net negative on society, then say so - but say so civilly, and do so in a way that may actually convince someone of your rightness.

On the other hand, if you believe that the United States has done great things, then say so; but do not insult others who disagree. Rather, attempt to calmly logically refute their accusations. Debate changes minds; shouting matches do not.
