ha ha i have 16. And i have not played them in same game but since most games have high bets, i do not think it fair to penalise new players who have just joined. Its most disadvantageous for those who can only play one game at a time
1. Think up about seven distinct, unrelated user names. 2. Join. 3. Open some large games, join with 2 or more of those accounts. 4. Play the games as if the accounts were one country 5. Shut up about your multi-accounts. If anyone asks, tell them 'You are jealous because you can't make such quality alliances like me.' 6. Enjoy!

heh i know its extremely ungracious. but better ungracious than unethical. just want to reiterate my longstanding position, that if you have just one or two SCs, and rather than work in the grand coalition to stop the runaway leader, you decide to bottom feed off his victory for a few pathetic points, you blow, and everything about you blows.
What has been your best diplomacy moment on this site, a stab that was so great that you bring it up in your daily conversations, a victor so overwhelming, or just a strategy that you stuck to and did well.
I would have to say that I think mine would be in the game East (http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gid=2378) where I saw that Russia had not turned in orders, changed mine real quick and ended up with three supply centers that turn.
I'm sure this has been asked, so forgive my laziness in not checking, but is there a way to convoy from North Sea around Denmark? I can't convoy via Denmark, and Ska doesn't let me go to Baltic.
So we have had three so far right? with 2 wins to the Allies and 1 victory for the Axis powers. what did people think? i liked the team work involved but maybe a different mix of countries would make it more exciting and throw up battles in different places. With the current WWI teams it seems to lead to a diagonal line of units from tunis thru swiss and up to st petes once italy is removed from the picture. different teams and including italy, could we do it? russia, turkey, england vs france, austria, germany ? the centre vs the periphery? or a more hedgehog approach to team making? ideas?
How you go into a game with players you've played before
It seems a lot of people have talked about going into games fresh and not bringing preconceptions about other players into the game, and for the most part I have agreed on this point. But I was thinking about it some more lately, and I think I've changed my stance some. I still agree coming into games always allying with the same people, unbreakable alliances, etc. are not good...but to say I shouldn't remember how I've seen X person play? I'm beginning to think something is lost there. Thanks to Kestas, we've been building up a community of players here, each with our own idiosyncrasies and playing styles...why not explore them?
Each game I play, I have the opportunity to learn how to play better...say, when using a certain tactic might not be a good idea/is particularly effective...why shouldn't I also learn what negotiation tactics work better with a certain player? Or that he or she stabs often or rarely? Doesn't my body of knowledge about a player and how I try to use it to my advantage take the game to higher level? Yes, a new player hasn't had the same amount of experience as me, but they'll get it soon enough...and it cuts both ways, as I, in turn, know nothing about them and he or she is a wild card and must be treated with differently. But would this prejudice people against allying with new players? I think not, as it would be foolish to limit your options at the get go. It's just a different kind of negotiations.
So that's what I've been thinking...I'm particularly interested in what the rest of you think.
i'm only answering the first one, the second one makes my brain hurt too much...it's too early in my day for that.
russia start: scs: smyrna, ankara, constantinople, norway, sweden, munich, berlin, kiel, budapest, rumania, trieste, venice, marseilles, spain, brest, paris non-scs: armenia, syria, prussia, galicia, silesia, bohemia, tyrolia, piedmonte, ruhr, gascony, picardy, north africa
obviously you could attempt to take ALL non sc locations, but i tried to pick ones that were at least somewhat reasonable to end up at from the scs in question.
Hmm, as you've pointed out you could choose. Thus the question is a little difficult. You could change the shape of your territory, and miss out SC's in small area's!
I think the smallest is this, a long thin shape rather than a blob. Probably France: Munich, Kiel,Berlin,Denmark,Belgium,Holland (Burgundy),Paris,Brest,Marseilles (tyrolia)Naples,Rome,Venice - Vienna (Via Sea)London,Edi,Liverpool,Portugal, Tunis
For a) the starting country would best be Russia, although it is possible to start with any country and then take over Russia... But this can be fiendishly difficult to achieve in practice - especially for, say, England, which would have to get rid of her own SCs at the last moment so as to make sure that the 18 are of largest size. It is easiest therefore to start with Russia and then work out which territories to take.
Also, as it is possible to move around gobbling up non-SC territories - but retreating units/other players have to be kept away from them when you move on, we again face a very fiendish practical problem.
It is therefore easiest to assume that we have maximised the non-SC lands and just concenrate on which 18 SCs are needed... That takes a lot of map staring to judge areas.
b) The same sort of considerations apply, except that we try to move over the board so as to NOT take non-SC territories... Also hard to do. The actual 18 SCs needed is the easier part of the problem... Again, a lot of map staring.
Game still on. The above solutions could be suitable... I will give this a bit more press and time.
To expand on my views, if you were _very_ lucky you could arrange to have no non SC's, by virtue of an enemy walking through after you. By this view, the smallest area is just the 18 smallest SC's!
if you mean "greatest POSSIBLE" then we would have to assume everyone was letting/helping you get the largest possible area. so they make a bunch of fleets and send them to nowhere while disbanding their armies. if you walk around everywhere without taking any small SCs, this gets really complicated.
Lost all of the information for my previous account and the only thing in my email related to this site was the Mastermind's series password. I played on here quite some time, and figured why not again. Did rather good too on my own part.
Anyways, my email was [email protected]. Was wondering if somehow you could refresh my password, give me it and my username or tell me that there is nothing that can be done.
How is there a game with two countries in civil disorder from the beginning at 1901? Also, how does Civil Disorder Germany and Civil Disorder Italy always happen to be in civil disorder and always happen to enter a game as either Germany or Italy respectively? And how do they stay at 100 points?
What's the feeling being the Top50 players on the site?
Being a player on the top of the ranking list, how are you feeling when you play a game?
Would your position affect your game in some way? Will your position helps or not helps to play with other players?
100point players may suggest you know, " let's finish Rait off first, he is dangerous and frequent to win!" while 1000point players may say to each other" let's elimite our green hand neighbour first and keep peace until we have to face each other at last."
just wondering what the phpdip community can tell me about other diplomacy sites? im playing one email game thru one site, name forgotten, game unmemorable .yes email! its just too much to remember who is who and whats going on. a lot of work for the judge too. hiphip horay for phpdip.
