4D Black Hole ->Big Bang?
http://io9.com/was-our-universe-created-by-a-four-dimensional-black-ho-1320660418

Still doesn't answer where the 4 D black hole came from...just pushes the question of existence back to a different point/place...

Feeling down
Sometimes I feel very sad and I don't understand what's going on at all.

Arab Spring, George Orwell, Jackson Pollock, The French Revolution, Kierkegaard, Machine Guns, Sex, D-Day, Ghengis Khan, Holocaust, Evolution, Schopenhauer, the Black Death, I mean what the FUCK.

Well I was limited to four lines. Essentially everything. Why we struggle to reproduce and hate each other and line up in rows and shoot upon each other and write books about Social Darwinism and racial superiority. Why we build rockets to fire at each other, why we raise battle flags and cry for freedom, why we write constitutions and why a certain hat puts you in a certain class of humans. Why do we smoke? What the fuck is television I mean what is it for? What are Gods and dreams and why does Dante inspire me but I think Harry Potter is shit, what is a piece of art, why are women beautiful, what is existentialism isn't it essentially a paradox anyway? What is this despair I feel why did Van Gogh kill himself in a field, why did we storm the Bastille why do Kings wear crowns seriously what the fuck is this all about?
So, about sex...
SYnapse (0 DX)
16 Sep 13 UTC
To humour you, what the fuck is sex? I understand we need to reproduce but why does it mean that we have such things as sexual performance, viagra, porn, fetishes, BDSM etc. Why do we have sex positions? Why is one woman beautiful and another not? Why do we have infidelity in some and chastity/loyalty in others? What are sins?

Now back to topic, what the fuck is the space race? Vietnam? Animal testing? Why do we read books from thousands of years ago and call them classics? Why do we put Greek columns on our buildings? Why have a national anthem? What is a nation? What is brotherhood? What is glory? Why do some of us claim to worship one god and some another and we argue about it? What is football and what the fuck are football hooligans about?

Because humans are one of two species known to have sex for fun, and because sex is fun, we choose to make it more fun. What's so crazy about that?

And why the hell are you trying to be SYnapse Faulkner dude?

SYnner - Go away, fucktard. You the big scientists with the bulging social brain...why don't you tell us all the answers.

Ohhh...wait....becuase your entire life is made up of pursuing *bullshit* and you exist to try to deconstruct others and tear apart social norms....no wonder you are so fucking miserable.

Go away.

Interesting questions, SYnapse. But doesn't your worldview provide any framework for answering these questions?
SYnapse (0 DX)
16 Sep 13 UTC
Semck, to claim that my worldview, or anyone's can explain everything is an arrogance that thankfully I'm spared. I try to understand some positive aspects of reproduction and such forth, but there are always the irrational, the Heath Ledger's Joker, the bullies, the krellins who can't be appealed to with reason. This exasperates me the most. In order to overpower an oppressive government for example, we must become violent, and that violence makes us hypocrits.

Ahhhhhh ha ha ha ha!!! SYnapse puts up an "I'M SAD...LOOK AT ME AND CODDLE ME...ESPECIALLY BIG HANDSOME MEN...BECAUSE I'M CONFUSED ABOUT SEX..." POST and accuses ME of seeking attention?!?!!?

Ahhhhhh ha ha ha ha! Go the fuck away, fucktard asshole.

SYnapse...seriously...go teh fuck away. You claim to be so fucking enlightened, and yet *clearly* you are so fucking detached from reality it isn't even funny...as if, through the power of your fucking superior intellect, you think you are supposed to be able to put a pretty fucking box around life and everyone and define everyone and solve all the problems. Good god...grow the fuck up, seriosuly, you whiny little bitch.

Your fucking arrogance is enough to make Donald Trump puke.

Go the fuck away and don your pedobear suit and troll through a park, asshole. That always bring s a smile to your face.

I don't think anybody's can answer everything, SYnapse, of course. But it can at least give a framework for explaining the type of answer, and the extent to which it can be answered. But not all of them do, it's true, and I do think you ask very interesting questions. I guess I was just interested in what your attempts to answer them would be.

@sYnapse - if you're feeling down try and spend some time doing something you enjoy, talk to a friend, go for a run, visit your mum, go for a walk, read a book. Avoid alcohol. Most people feel down sometimes.

If, as it appears, your current state is due to you not understanding stuff then try to lower your expectations of yourself. Why should you understand all the things you list when frankly nobody else does ( even though some pretend they do).

Whilst this doesn't work for everyone, have you tried acting? Not acting as in stage or screen but acting happy when your down. You make be surprised at the result.

So I'm gonna be writing a series of articles on Diplomacy strategy by country.
Chime in with suggestions for what you'd like to see covered in this series, what you think doesn't receive enough face time in other articles, what receives too much, etc. There's going to be a general article as well so if you've got more general material you want to see, throw it up here too.

IDEA: Enclaves & Exclaves
I've get a hard-on from keeping non-SC territories neutral or the color of an eliminated player; maybe it's the Yankee in me, but I hate seeing the entire board a single color -- it just seems so totalitarian.... So, here's an idea: what if you got an extra SC worth of "supply" for surrounding such "unowned" territories?

Reading on Dip Strategy
I'm playing a game with a few friends who have played Dip but may be a bit rusty. I'd love to share some links to some links to good articles to read on their respective countries. I used to read a lot on diplomacy-archive, but it seems to be incomplete in describing different openings etc. What do you guys consider to be the definitive guide of all things Diplomacy?

who would you like to meet on webdip if you wete visiting their part of town?
My recent trip to London, meeting up with Nigee, and Lando's recent post about going to Detroit and possibly meeting up with Frank, got me wondering. If you were going somewhere and you knew someone from webdip lived there, who would you reach out to to have a beer with? Or a coffee if its Bosox ;-)
