Starting Games with BANNNED Players
Recently joined a game, but before the game even started a player got banned. Per the system, a game does not start, and in fact cancels, without a full roster. <<more in first reply>>

When does a game end?
Does a game automatically end when someone gets to 18 supply centers or does it not end until someone conquers all of the supply centers?

Thanks,

world wide gunboat tournament
This is my favorite scenario but there is too much meta playing and . It is a bit tedious to get a 17 player list, but I would like to see if people are up to playing an anonymous game.I prefer a 12 hour turn, but am fine with 24 hours, esp. if people confirm after moving.

Thoughts?

Gladiatorial combat tournament?
I'm not sure how all these "tournament" rules work, but would anyone be interested in a tournament where all entrants bet, say, 90% of their total points? As such it would be evenly matched, and to lose would relegate you to noob status. Gladiator-style combat - you win or perish. Any takers? Anyone know how to organize such a thing? Minimum entry points should be around 2000, so I wouldn't qualify.

Worst Opening you've ever seen for France

It seems like France always has the easiest openings, you can do almost anything. But have any of you ever seen an absolutely terrible France opening?

Private game, just for fun
Some friends from Canada, and me in the UK are having a private game (http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=118780) and need two more players. It is the default map, 2 day phase. We are all beginners pretty much, but know the rules and some of the strategy. Just looking for a fun friendly game. Please join if interested. Password is "banana".

Thanks, it was a fun game.
You gutting Germany in Munich gave me a perfect opening to gain ground. England resisted annoyingly long and effective and of course i would have wished for italy and austria to fight one another exactly one turn longer but hey, one can't have everything.

Yes, I rather enjoyed holding Munich for sometime. The double supported attacks from Split and A-I that helped keep me in there were hilarious. My plan was to cause instability in the west in the hopes of encouraging a strong France that would prevent any western forays towards me by E or G. To a large degree, this was a success and with Munich it cost me very little to do so.

Unfortunately, R-T didn't work as well against A-I as we could have. Great S02 move, Fairfax. I wish you had blocked the Lepanto in F02 though rather than take the unlikely shot at Serbia. Losing Bul (at least in my mind) as a result of the Lepanto made it a challenge to hold back Austria for the long term. A misorder the year of Italy's stab was the last straw.

An interesting plan.

Yes, I fucked that up, no doubt. Not one of my best games.

No worries, Fairfax, it was fun. :)

glad you can appreciate it, Splitty
Interesting power "naming" also;
-"The double supported attacks from Split and A-I that helped keep me in there were hilarious."
-"I was pleased with saving Rum for a year as I felt that this helped contribute to Split's demise as it left a viable Russia and strong Italy on Austria's two sides"
Pretty much obvious what your scores in those games were.

Split is quick to write... Lando and 2ndWhiteLine takes longer. I actually thought you might be Turkey in this game, Split. But.....if you want to attribute my move to Munich for some reason other than your move to take Sweden, be my guest.

I had no interest in seeing a 7 center Germany pop-up. Did I?
I agree,it makes sense.

This game was frustrating for me. I was surprised at how quickly I was able to Lepanto, but getting into Smyrna was a real sticking point and I was getting angry at Austria for not hitting Con, especially when he had several opportunities to cut the support. Unfortunately, I mistimed my stab, as I didn't think Germany and England would collapse as quickly as they did.

Also, I ALMOST fucked up my F1909 orders that would have sent F ION - ADR, which would have given France the solo. I'm happy I caught that one.
I am glad you didn't, 2nd.

@Barn3tt - why reject my offer of alliance in S01? Did you figure there was an easy gain to be had from me? I am somewhat tired to the A/I vs R//T rut that these games sometimes get into, so, I tried to break the mould a bit. (Also tried in the cancelled Last Call game).

After that, and after Italy accepted my offers of reconciliation it was all set - we ran a good alliance. I didn't want him to grow too fast, though, as I felt I had a harder road into Russia than he had into Turkey. So I didn't do him any favours.

Eventually it seemed like France was going to plow through the west and become a solo threat. Therefore, I felt it was going to be OK to start helping Italy as we would just set a 3wd. I wasn't too choked when Italy stabbed. I felt as though he was balancing power, which was fine as my goals had already shifted to 3wd.

That game played really quick, especially for the class of players. I kinda thought it was a bit funny. But fun still.

Thanks, all.

filing a complaint about a live game

the game is not anon. it is a live game. but someone is basically in a hopelessly drawn position...is there anyone who can force this guy to draw. its obvious he is hoping one of us will leave the game. really shitty sportsmanship.
