The Great Debate: Mujus, Crazy Anglican, Nigee, semck, SC vs. My Fellow Atheists?
It seems as if we have a new wave of vocal and talented Christian thinkers, who certainly seem as willing as I to type on the matter, albeit from the other end--so, care to debate, say, 2-4 Christians vs. the same # of Atheists, on a thread w/ a neutral moderator, we each give an opening statement in succession (say, 500-1000 words or less), one rebuttal per person, and then open it up for questions, side with the most +1s for their comments "wins?"

Sexist Pig, Re-Heated Family Guy Leftovers, or Fresh New Take--McFarlane as Oscars Host?
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/closeread/2013/02/seth-macfarlane-and-the-oscars-hostile-ugly-sexist-night.html So the reviews for the Aesthete Super Bowl known as the Oscars are in...and pretty much it's an even split, some loving the job Seth McFarlane did and others, like Ms. Davidson here, finding his turn as Oscar host incredibly offensive...and "misogynistic" seems to be the chief complaint against him--agree with that, disagree...your take?

A Promise for Israel
The Today's Bible Reading thread includes this psalm today that has an amazing promise for Israel. (This is an occasional special posting so if your mind is completely closed to the Bible, just mute this thread.)

Potential Multi Issue
I'm new to website after playing a few IRL games, and my housemate who also works at the same place as me is probably thinking about joining. However, I know there are issues relating to people using multiple accounts, and if that's done by IP address is will most likely look like both our accounts are the same person's.
What's the best way for us to avoid this, or who should I contact to discuss it further?
Thanks!

Are you the one who will rule the world?
For the easy payment of 15 D, you can enjoy the chance to rule the world with The World Wide Schlieffen Plan ( http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=111246 ) . If you can take 10 minutes out of you day for possible world domination, than this deal is for you. In fact this deal is just to good. I'm gonna have to put a time limit of 7 days for this. I would wait that long though. there's only 13 spaces left.

It's the largest collection of bands on the east coast and get 100k people. A huge Canadian contingent make the way down there. Lando and I were both there last year (didn't see each other though) but I don't think he's going this year.

Sir Paul, Wilco, Animal Collective, Grizzly Bear... The list goes on. The lineup this year is awesome

The lineup is awesome. I would love to go, but it's not gonna happen this year.

And, yes, the traffic is horrendous.

My house is about 2 hours, but I work mostly in Chattanooga, so about an hour.

Did you enjoy Tennessee? We have a very beautiful state, but many people are unaware of it.

I spend some time hiking in Tennessee. Actually, I did the length of the Tennessee-North Carolina border on the Appalachian Trail, and spent some time in Erwin and Johnson City.

For my money, there are few places in the world more beautiful than Roan Mountain.

WOW, Way up there huh Hecks.

Hecks, I have been all over the world, and East tennessee is hands down the most beautiful, and we actually do a good job of keeping it clean. The locals here get on the tourists if they litter and such.

Johnson City, well, its what it is, Erwin is tiny.

I've always though that it would suck to be a local for the weekend that a festival is in town. Didn't get to spend much time in TN. I can say that it was a pleasure to drive through Tennesse and Kentucky, especially after spending hours driving through that waste of space, Ohio.

I'll challenge you on "Hands down the best". I'm a Mainer, and I'd miss the ocean. But yes, it's pretty high on my list.

I did the Southeast of Tennessee, too, but at the Smokies, I turned right for Bryson City instead of left for Gatlinburg.

Erwin's tiny, but the people are wonderful.

remember hecks, I lived in boston for a long time, and learned a lot of my trout fishing skills in Maine, Vermont, New hampshire...lol

I have ice fished, played hockey up there, so I know the Northeast is also beautiful, and I do miss the ocean, but I hate the freaking snow...lol

Snow was cool when I was a kid, and could play in it. Shoveling it sucks

Ah, HJecks, did they all bring out their guns and try to shoot up in Erin...lol Joke btw, but those are the type of people who wont give up their guns, be sure of it.

you shoudl make a point to go to Gatlinburg ONCE. It is a great little town, reminds you of old Europe in some ways.
hecks (164 D)
27 Feb 13 UTC
The snow is the price Mainers pay to live in such a beautiful place. But you're right, I like it a lot less now that I'm the one who has to shovel it. It does, however, carry the benefit of keeping the snowbirds away for a good six months of the year.

We have what we call 'half backs' here now. Northeasterners who went to florida, did not like it, and went 'half way back' to us. They are so obnoxious.

We have what we call 'yankees' and we have 'damn yankees'

A Northerner who comes here, ispolite and respectful, well we will joke with him and callhim a yankee.

You can imagine who fits the description of the 'damn yankee'

Big City Northeasterners are the worst. There snooty attitudes, looking down their nose at us, calling us names, etc.

I am not sure if you heard of a place called Reliance, but it is in the Cherokee National forest, and probably the best fly fishing river on The East coast is there (Hiwassee river), and they have exactly TWO gas stations, one which is also a small diner.

So i am in there, eating something, reading a book, some locals in there, they dont 'know' me, but have seen and talked to me, so I am 'ok' are also in there.

In comes 2 new Yorkers with their big Mercedes.....they come in, sit down, andorder some food and the man says "ever seen so many fucking rednecks"

Everyone stops talking, and starts looking at them.

I said, very polite way "sir, I know you are from New York, but I am going to say this plainly. I would not eat here, because, you may not leave here if you stay if you catch my drift" and nodded to the locals.

I was not even threatening him, just telling him the flatout truth. They did get up and leave, and all was okay, but that is the sort of shit we deal with from Northeasterners.

maine, vermont, and most New hampshire people are not like this, and so I can imagine you were not given any shit, but damn bostonians and new yorkers....they are the WORSTQ!!!!!

I was there last year (with Lando) but unfortunately can't go this year. The lineup looks incredible, though.

I didn't get to see much of Tennessee either but we did run of gas (the gauge was broken) a few miles outside of Manchester...the cops were very nice and drove our friend to the nearest gas station and back to fill the jerry can.

Did some camping and golfing in Kentucky on the way down though and it was really beautiful there.
This guy came with frank and I (his is the car with the broken fuel gauge)

Looking for some advice. My wife says I should wash second-hand clothes before I wear them, in case there are bugs or something in them. But is that going far enough? What if there are demons in my "new" corduroys? Should I exorcise them first? Pat Robertson says better safe than sorry.

Michelle Obama presents Best Picture Award
Cult of personality much? Can the Obamas refrain from inserting themselves into every damn corner of American life? Who thought this was a good idea--among both the White House staff and the Oscars producers? Can we leave politics out of anything? Why were military personnel used as props in a banal entertainment industry awards program?

Seriously, how is this not creepy and inappropriate?
