Can I remove a game from "My games" once defeated?
I've been defeated yet the game still appears in "My games" tab. Can I remove it since I of course don't have any orders to put in? Or I've got to wait till the game is finished?

I'm not the usual EOG-writer, but I'm very interested in what was going on in the end so I thought I might as well write my first EOG.

Novogord Chronicles, Mongols and Russia
In my world history class, we're talking about Mongols and their impact on Eurasia. In this one excerpt from the Novogord Chronicles, the passage says that the Mongols demanded "give us your numbers for tribute." I was just wondering what the heck "numbers" is referring to. Thanks!

My apologies for 1901. I checked a minute before the start, saw we had only 5 and assumed it wasn't going to fly. Anyway, thanks for an interesting game.

dragon con atlanta - any interest in a diplomacy game?
dragoncon.org for info on dates and location, etc.

they are not currently hosting a dip game, but having emailed the gaming director, it seems like getting one or two games going should be pretty easy. before i go any further, i wanted to see if there were any webdip members who might be interested in a face to face game at dragon con!

Thanks, WarMaster! I know I made several stupid moves, but all in all, one of my better games so far. You played great and knew when to go for the Draw.

Thanks Zmaj, I'm honoured.

Good game, I was hoping to see England get jumpy and stab but it never materialised! I made one tiny error in choice in the Med - otherwise I would have kept Tunis and carried on going. It was the move from Adriatic to Apulia. If I had gone to Ionian, Tunis would have been secure and that whole line would have been frozen. Such a shame - 1 tiny move and it costs you the whole thing.
Germany can go straight to hell and shame on y'all for letting him in the draw. :( If not for that jerk marauding in Tyrolia, I don't build the army in Rome and Sarg doesn't go apeshit on me

If I could give a bit of advice?

Austria very nearly won that game because of Munich; the key to the entire position was that Ber - Kie was ordered instead of Ber S (French unit) - Mun. And, if Austria could have gotten into Sil, Mun was lost forever, and then if the War/Mos line is breached the game ends.

In a position like that, you should be looking to count to 18 as Austria, and realize that unless you can retake Munich, Austria is likely to win. So, the most important thing for you to do in that position was to use BAL/Pru to knock out Berlin, then regain Munich with France before Austria was in position to keep it. And, if you lost War/Mos as part of that, it's a good trade; StP you keep either way, and that's 17, not 18. It doesn't matter how many units you have at the draw, just that you draw instead of lose.

Having said that, you ended up winning a tactical battle against Austria that could easily have gone the other way, so well done there! I was just trying to point out that you ended up picking a tougher fight you didn't need to instead of an easier fight you did, but as long as you win the fight, it works. :)

Eden - I didn't think Germany or Turkey deserved to be in the draw, but because Munich was hanging, I couldn't say no.

No one won the fight, Steinhardt, it was a draw ;)

@Sarg: Yeah, I was jumpy, mainly because I desperately wanted to send NTH - BAL, if Russia wouldn't have taken the move through Den the wrong way. But I prefer a 3-center draw to a 5-center loss. :)
Zmaj (215 D(B))

CSteinhardt, thanks for the advice, I see how that would have been better. And yeah, I moved to BAL because I was afraid of you :)

@Zmaj: A good rule of thumb for positions where it's a draw only if a small power stays on-side: let the small power stab you if they want to. If they stab you and realize you are still fighting the big power, they might feel secure enough to then accept the draw. And, if they're dead-set on stabbing you for all it's worth, then you weren't going to get the draw anyway, right?

You did that exactly right when I moved to NTH/NWG, for example. That looked scary, but you were right to trust that I wasn't going to try and take you apart, because if I decided to, then even if you fight me, Austria wins the game.

Now, if it's a small power where they're *not* needed in the draw? Then by all means, go ahead and take them out.
At first I saw CSteinhardt, a week-long member of the site, giving informed advice and thought "lol whose csteinhardt is he knew??"

Then I saw a 30% win rate and 55% win+draw rate in his first 20 games. Bravo, sir.

CSteinhardt, I'll keep that in mind. Simple advice are the best.

Public Press World Game!
So, I really enjoy the World variant. I've played a couple full press and gunboat games, but have never tried a public press game. I personally think that such a game would be rather fun, with tons of potential for negotiation on a global forum.

Henotheism
Henotheism is the belief and worship of a single god while accepting the existence or possible existence of other deities. The term was originally coined by Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling (1775–1854) to depict early stages of monotheism, however Max Müller (1823–1900), a German philologist and orientalist, brought the term into common usage.
