Can I remove a game from "My games" once defeated?
I've been defeated yet the game still appears in "My games" tab. Can I remove it since I of course don't have any orders to put in? Or I've got to wait till the game is finished?
Tom Bombadil (4023 D(G))

You have to wait. It is a constant reminder or your failure in the game. lol

It's important to keep an eye on it because sometimes you might be given a second chance.
Szpoti (2048 D)
20 Apr 12 UTC
Thanks. However, your second sentence appears to me a bit enigmatic. ;-)
After a while of studious interpretation, isn't it about a typo, "or" instead of "of"?
If so, well, sometimes there's really nothing you can do to prevent things form happening; it's like a destiny of the goalkeepe to accept that despite his best effords the penatly kick will find its way to the net.
Poozer (962 D)

Poor goalkeeper.
Sargmacher (0 DX)

That's a bit of an enigmatic sentence yourself Szpoti, after barely a glance of interpretation I question whether you meant "goalkeepe" or "goalkeeper"?

If you did in fact mean the word old Norse word "goalkeepe", then I'm intrigued why you are talking about penalty kicks. The "goalkeepe" were an ancient tribe related to the Gods - but I don't think they ever played football.

I could be wrong. Maybe it's just a typo.
Szpoti (2048 D)
20 Apr 12 UTC
Allow me to make an official statetment: there are two (at least) typing errors in my previous post:
1. "goalkeepe" instead of "goalkeeper", in other words "goalie";
2. "effords" instead of "efforts".

The sentence I've commited in its original form would probably carry some existential content with metaphysics involved.

Sargmacher, could you shortly explain what you mean by "second chance"? Can I get revived after the defeat?
Sargmacher (0 DX)
20 Apr 12 UTC
No, there is no chance of being revived. I was only joking :)

I'll take it as a stab, we're at war now mate! lol

@Sarg - you should have kept him going and made him think this was like Survivor: Redemption Island where you *can* get back in the game. ;-)

@Draugnar, I think there is a phone call for you in another room ;-)

I live by one rule when it comes ot being eliminated.

Always... er... Never... er...

Oh hell, it's something about burning bridges. I can never remember which I should do. :-)
Szpoti (2048 D)
20 Apr 12 UTC
So do I; that was the reason for me to have asked this initial question here as I'd like to remove the game. I'm sure millions of players have already proposed it as a feature to be implemented, haven't they?
Sargmacher (0 DX)
20 Apr 12 UTC
@Draugnar: That would have been fun and I was tempted! But in the end I didn't have the heart to, candy and babies and all that...

Unfortunately, loading a saved game doesn't seem to work in real life. Wish it did.
Doesn't work here on WD either. Maybe the best idea.
Live with your mistakes. Don't try to hide them from yourself or others. They've all been there too. Nobody can be perfect. We'll accept your failings. I have a whole shed-load.
Just don't f*up again! If you do, flaunt it.

Remember there are seven players in a classic Dip and only one winner. If your win ratio is better than 14% you are doing well.
Draugnar (0 DX)
20 Apr 12 UTC
@Check_mate - considering most games end in a draw, if your win ration is better than 7% your doing well. 1/2 of 1/7 = 1/14 or just over 7%.

You also misspelled penalty.

If you've been Defeated in a press game, you can still work to conspire the defeat of those who took you out!

If Gunboat, then the only real benefit is an accessible link for continuing to follow the game.

Lol Tas I actually remember my first game with you, after I'd been defeated we kept talking for years, I recently found that in the messages archive. Too funny.

Novogord Chronicles, Mongols and Russia
In my world history class, we're talking about Mongols and their impact on Eurasia. In this one excerpt from the Novogord Chronicles, the passage says that the Mongols demanded "give us your numbers for tribute." I was just wondering what the heck "numbers" is referring to. Thanks!

My apologies for 1901. I checked a minute before the start, saw we had only 5 and assumed it wasn't going to fly. Anyway, thanks for an interesting game.

dragon con atlanta - any interest in a diplomacy game?
dragoncon.org for info on dates and location, etc.

they are not currently hosting a dip game, but having emailed the gaming director, it seems like getting one or two games going should be pretty easy. before i go any further, i wanted to see if there were any webdip members who might be interested in a face to face game at dragon con!

Public Press World Game!
So, I really enjoy the World variant. I've played a couple full press and gunboat games, but have never tried a public press game. I personally think that such a game would be rather fun, with tons of potential for negotiation on a global forum.

May not everyone has a look into the older thread anymore.
But we still need 2 players for our public press game with 48hours / phase and Anonymous players. You are in for 35 D.

Henotheism
Henotheism is the belief and worship of a single god while accepting the existence or possible existence of other deities. The term was originally coined by Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling (1775–1854) to depict early stages of monotheism, however Max Müller (1823–1900), a German philologist and orientalist, brought the term into common usage.
