We need a replacement because of a ban - world game
Hey all! We need a replacement because of a CD, banned player (not a cheater) in a pretty awesome world game with very good players (not me ;) ). The country we need replaced is the USA and he is in a very good position, the game is in autumn 2002 retreat phase.

10 Legends, 1 Future: If We Had To Repopulate The Human Race...
...and you could choose ANY 10 human beings to ever live to redo it...to pass on their intellect and genes and being--and yes, I know Einstein+Curie +/= Super Science Baby, just go with this "re-imagining" of how it works, it's all in fun--who would you choose?
And the ration of XX to XY MUST be 50/50 or 60/40...no 9 men-one-queen relationships! ;) So...who would you pick to create Humanity 2.0?

An excuse to avoid studying
I'm in need of one, and finally have enough spare time to play on this site again. So time for a comeback game. Classic, WTA. Medium pot (for me, so between 50-150). Phase length can be decided but preferably between 1-2 days.
Anyone up for it?

High replacement bets
Hi
Somewhat new to this site. I've helped put as a replacement elsewhere and would not be against doing so here but I get turned off with what seems to me to an inappropiately high bet for terrible positions. I assume there are difficulties making this better. Thoughts?

Capitalism and D's
I like the connection. The richer (and better Diplomacy players) get richer, while the poorer (and worse Diplomacy players) get poorer. Maybe, after all, D's IS the best ranking system?

Retreat rules clarification
Can someone retreat to the spot from which you attacked them?
Example: Austrian A Vie attacks Italian A Tri (A Vie supported by A Bud). A Tri forced to retreat. Can they retreat into the now vacant Vie SC?

Turns out, world smartest people are Asians. Why would that be?
In one the numerous "political debate" threads haunting this forum, Fasces posted a list of countries by average IQ. The entire top 7 is Asian, and on 10 there is Mongolia (which is weird, because you never hear anything about Mongolia). Why do they score so well?

The game is for trolls and semi-trolls. It is anon and global chat so will be focused on humorously trolling on one another anonymously. Then in the end we find out who's whom.

LOL...

I'd say "oops!" with all due sarcasm...but something tells me the poor FOX stats guy was told to make it look that way...

After all, can't criticize Obama for not having the unemployment rate go down on his watch...if it IS...

Incompetence or mere bias--YOU decide! XD

Is the issue here that they have misdrawn the graph so that the line appears constant when, in fact the numbers should reflect a decrease?
Invictus (240 D)
13 Dec 11 UTC
The just shows how stupid some of the people at Fox News can be. A lot of the "decrease" in unemployment over Obama's presidency has really just been more people giving up on hope of finding a job. They either retire before they really want to or just go on benefits. Instead of taking two seconds to explain how the official unemployment rate just hides a much more serious problem they do asinine things like this.
largeham (149 D)
13 Dec 11 UTC
^ One of my main gripes over how unemployment is calculated. It allows politicans to crow about a 5% u/e rate but it doesn't show the plight of students, the underemployed or those who have dropped out of the labour market.

'Instead of taking two seconds to explain...'

I don't think FOX is in the industry of explaining things, that would be education, as far as i can FOX is into entertainment....

If you need something which is both, i recommend a system which challenges you (challenges are fun) to learn... some kind of game... hmm.

Duhhhhh.....hey....if we only INCREASE spending by $500 BILLION dollars next year instead of $600 BILLION dollars, we can call that a Spending CUT!!! Duhhhhh.....says the idiot Liberal...Says CNN....Says MSNBC....Says ABC...Says CBS...Says NBC...Says every Liberal....

Puhhhh-lease. Before we pretend that Fox News has a monoploy and "hyperbole" and...uh....LIES....why don't you all get a fucking clue...
Victorious (768 D)
14 Dec 11 UTC
well, the moment 8,6% is as much as 9,0% and definitly more then 8,6%, you deserve to be slapped.
Victorious (768 D)
14 Dec 11 UTC
i mean, definitly more than 8,8%
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Dec 11 UTC
And maybe it was a typo in the number. Maybe it was supposed to be 8.9%? Typos happen on graphics all the time. Nobody proofs them anymore. And that is on *all* the major networks (the typos in graphics I mean). Hell, they even have teleprompter typos that, if the announcer isn't paying close attention, get read across the air and sometimes never get redacted.
krellin (80 DX)
14 Dec 11 UTC
Teleprompters....sometimes they spell tings correctly, though, and the idiot reading the 'prompter is too stupid to know the words.

For example...Our man-child idiot President Obama referred to the "Navy CORPSE-MAN" once, instead of corpsman. Fucking retard in the White House....
Draugnar (0 DX)
14 Dec 11 UTC
OK, a little more research shows it was to be 8.6%. But honestly, it's still a stupid graph that some flunky intern put together and may have lost hi sinternship over.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
14 Dec 11 UTC
this seems appropriate here...
