Call me Cassandro - The Unpopular Nostradamus
As you all should know by now, I am the reincarnation of Nostradamus. I wrote it on the internet, so it must be true. So ask me your questions... but you probably won't like the answers I give.

High Communication Game
Hey all. Yesterday I completed a live game that had some of the best communication and gameplay (No CDs!!) that we've had in a long time. So, in that spirit, I'm starting a game with 1 day phases that is geared towards finding 7 players (only 5 more needed) who want to have lots of comm/no CDs. If you're interested, let me know and I'll send you the password to the game. Hope to see you all on the battlefield!

So I have to ask... Ginger or Mary Ann?
Personally, I want both at the same time, but if I have to pick, I pick Mary Ann.

Really? Guess someone doesn't watch syndicated TV.

Mary Ann here, but either one catches my attention.
It's been a while since I've watched Giligan's Island, so I don't know.

But Tom Bombadil was around before Gilligan's Island.

Anyone picking Mary Ann clearly does not especially want to get a hummer. I figure her for a straight-up missionary style girl, whilst Ginger seems the sort willing to get freaky.
Not that a hummer is especially freaky, but to Mary Ann, it certainly would be.

What, no Mrs. Howell option? Ageist!
Draugnar (0 DX)

Why is age discrimination ageist but race discrimination is racist? Shouldn't it be raceist?

Some of us prefer boring straight-up missionary.

I also vote for Mary Ann. Ginger was a ho.
Alderian (2425 D(S))

Ginger = Drama Queen
Mary Ann = Happy to please me

I'd go with Mary Ann
Ginger = full of herself

Mary Ann = down to earth

Plus don't judge a book by its cover; you never know who's really going to be freaky.
Ebay (966 D)

Mary Ann.

A farmer's daughter = no hummer?
Please. You could totally use your Diplomacy skills to get anything you want from her. She'd be too naive to defend herself from you verbal manipulations. Plus she was way hotter.
... and I stand on years of study of both girls as an adolecent, so I'm not just making this up ;-)

I once heard a dating expert suggest, in all seriousness, this question as a way for women to tell if their dates are secretly gay. Because a gay guy would equate Ginger's glamourousness with beauty and would fail to realize that Mary Ann was actually way hotter, because of her less flashy wardrobe.
And if the guy didn't know who you were talking about he was too young to be dating. Cause I guess you really shouldn't date unless you're over 40.
Anyway it was thoroughly ridiculous.
Sounds like the financial advisor that won't discuss his own portfolio.

Like many such shows, the characters are really rather two-dimensional (obviously) and are more like aspects of a single or maybe two people (I would argue two in this case as Mr. & Mrs. Howell usually took on the roles of villian). Anyway, I'd take Mary Ann's honesty and down to earth qualities, the prof's brains and selflessness (always working for the common good), the skippers utter loyalty (in the face of Gilligan's stupidity and mistakes), and Gilligan's well meaning nature and always assuming the best. Ginger I have no use for. Maybe she's a sort of villain too. This sort of analysis probably "proves" I'm gay to someone.
Mafialligator (239 D)
29 Jul 10 UTC
Yeah, I wouldn't worry about that theory. It's pretty stupid. I think the answer that would indicate someone was gay is if he said "Gilligan".
Skipper and Gilligan really seemed to have a sado-masochism thing going on. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of spankings and such. It's curious that Gilligan slept on top though, I suspect he really wore the pants when the hut door closed.
Ooops that'll teach me to ignore the post before mine :-)
Mary Ann's a farmer's daughter in the late 50s-early 60s. Hell, she probably thought dancing was a little too risque. A small town girl like that worried about her reputation.
As a tangent, this is why I can never understand the whole paradise equates to 72 virgins thing. Seems to me like I'd prefer not to have 72 women who have no idea what the fuck they were doing. You know every last hummer you get from them is going to be toothy to the point of bad pain. Give me 10 women who know what they want and have some clue how to get it over 72 virgins any day.
Mafialligator (239 D)
29 Jul 10 UTC
It amuses me that you specified "bad pain". As opposed to "good pain" I suppose?
Indeed. A little bit of pain during naked time is a good thing. A lot of it is something I'd rather leave to the ball gag set.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Scratching the back and biting the shoulder = Good pain.
Scratching the scrotum and biting the tool = Bad pain.

@Bob....Holy crap! We agree! The whole "72 virgins" bullshit is a *guarantee* that I never strap a bom onto my body. it's bad enough trying to train one woman what her job is, let alone 72 clueless girls who are most likely too prudish..

A WebDip Live-Play Tournament, Anyone?
Anyone up for the idea of a mass live-play tournament? I'm not sure how you'd do the progressions up the bracket, maybe taking a page from that World Cup (what do you know, it DID leave an impression) and have Groups and then after that be an elimination one...I don't know, but I jsut figure it could be fun as if it's live the games will only last a few hours each, and so maybe more will want to come in and we can have a big, brief, psuedo-face-to-face Torunament. Any takers?

Anybody else agree?
I like playing regular games, 5 min 20 bet and no anon players. Why? Because it shows the last time they were on and if they are online. This makes it easier to attack players who arent there or C/D. In anon you have no idea if their waiting to put their orders in or C/D. Anybody else with me?

StarCraft II
Many moons ago, when Doom (the original) was still fresh in my memory, the RTS was born via Starcraft. Fantastic game. I went to the mall at midnight the other day (I'm unemployed...why not!) and introduced my children to true geekdom as I bought my copy of Starcraft II. I'm reconnecting with a buddy of 30+ years via this game. We drifted apart...and now have a common cause again! Any fans out there?

Bug Involving the game "may my hammer be mightyyyy"
In the game "may my hammer by mightyyyy (http://www.webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=34294&msgCountryID=3)", I ordered A-Lusitania-Gaul and A-Tarraco-Massilia. Rome carried out an attack on Tarroco (A-Gaul-Tarroco and A-Massilia-S-A-Gaul-Tarroco). A-Lusitania-Gaul did not cut A-Gaul-Tarroco for some reason. A-Gaul-Tarroco was therefore successful and my Tarroco army was dislodged (I retreated it to Saguntum). May this bug be fixed and have the units position as they should be?

If you had to, would you?
Basically, someone posts a situation, then the next poster says if they would do it and why, then post a new situation. I'll start. If a mad man killer held a gun to your head and told you you had to kill fifty people in one day or die, would you do it? If so, how? would you do it in style, machine gun in mall, or smart, sniper by countryside?
