THe public function causes problems such as people negotiating indirectly...threats...fights...nasty unnecessary things. This way is convenient since you dont have to reveal which country you are, you just ask for a draw.

@ ava2790 No! A gunboat game is just that, GUNBOAT. No negotiations. Your moves , builds and the subtleties (sp) are what allow you to negotiate. No written communication. That's what gunboat means.

@ ava ok asking for a draw or cancel is acceptable. I thought you were wanting to discuss strategy.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, so I'll just take your question at face value. The answer is "no," we cannot keep this thread alive. If you want a draw, vote for one, but there can be no messaging (in game, in forum, personal message) during a gunboat game.

I understand. I just happen to have used the live game advertisement thread to ask for draws before and have found the process particularly useful. If we don't like it, that's fine, too.

@ Czech: It's a slippery slope. I say no messaging at all. Votes and orders are the only acceptable forms of communication in gunboat.

That was a great game - one of the best live anon gunboats I've played in a while. Too bad Austria had to leave, he was playing a good game. England, I'm sorry, but you didn't play a very great game after year two. All you did was slow things down for the Western Triple and let Austria and Turkey get strong. Imho, you'd have been much better off heading into Russia or Germany. Well played, Germany. That was a very decent alliance after midgame. Apologies for the London bounce. No offense meant.

I also thought it was a good game. I played austria and that was my first live ever! I thought I was sunk after year one. If I hadn't of misordered and then had to leave, well no ifs. Great game everyone!!

Too bad you had to leave. We could have made a stand. As for dying early... it just goes to show how valuable alliances are in this game. If you and I had gone after each other instead of holding the line against Rus, we would have both been sunk. Good game.
