I need to weigh in on this. While I have no knowledge of your game specifics, your post reads that there is something to be ashamed of for being a noob. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every single person on this site shared this same experience at one point in their journey.

I was born with eons of age behind me, but, alas, with no knowledge of Diplomacy. And no, I did not learn the game before noob came into being. I was born the 21st of May of '92. I just learned every rule before I played the game with more than 1 or 2 other people. I played my first 7-player diplomacy games on this site, and since I already had "knowledge of tactics and diplomatic maneuvers", I was never called a noob/n00b. I suppose that makes me a natural diplomat, though.

Nobody is on any list except masterninja and his girlfriend.
