I've just finished playing with a group of friends, I was well aware of the friendship connections before I joined and I don't think the fact that some players knew one another had much impact on the game. I played badly and would have lost anyway. However, as is my manner, I like to try and influence who does win even if I can't and to this end tried to goad one of the players into a perfect stab. The player responded that normally he would have followed my suggestions but as it was a closed league where meta-gaming happened he needed to rebuild some trust and therefore passed up the oppertunity to stab. Personally this (non) action didn't affect me. What would others do, shrug and say fine, point out that meta-gaming is bad, bad, bad. advise them that if they are going to meta-game in a closed league that everyone should be aware of that rule before a game is played. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

If it was our league, then that is to be expected. That isn't an unacceptable form of metagaming (remember not all metagaming is bad). I think it is perfectly acceptable when playing in a league to think about the future. Just as it is perfectly acceptable to remember you rexperience with another player and, if you ever happen to face off again) use that to your advantage. For instance, Babak always stabs and has a hissy fit when he gets his ass handed to him on a platter. I won't ever leave a border open to him again nor will I ever trust an alliance with him.

I would have more sympathy with your exploits if you didn't have the potty mouth of a twelve year-old who has just discovered swearing.

No-one is impressed with either of you or your squabble. The criticisms are valid but the immaturity is annoying. If you don't care what anyone else thinks, fair enough, but if that is the case I don't see the point in getting so riled up about this.
