I resent this whole thing. ya dont read the rules, try and help a friend, and what do you get? a bunch of angry people talking about things i dont understand. yes. i was on as two players, but only untill dan could play from his house. this would only be his first game, and he wanted me to be in it to give him advice and a reliable ally. but whatever. both of us are cding, something i didnt even know how to do a minute ago, so you can all settle back into your calm little world where friends dont help friends, and its a crime to try.

I just read 'intro into diplomacy' for the first time, and under rules, it dosent say anything other than how to play the game. where are these rules ive apparently broken

I found, finaly, where it says stuff about multi accounting. and i found this:
"The data used to tell whether someone is a multi-accounter is a lot more thorough than just IPs. More evidence than just having the same IP is needed for a ban.
However if you know the other player well you may want to avoid playing in games with them, or you'll have an unfair advantage. You should at least let the other players in the game know that you know the other player in real life."
I addmited to knowing the other person! I have been honest! I was just making sure we both got into the same game! I dont think it fair to punish me for helping a friend. but, looking towards the future, if you all still dont want me to play with my friends, then fine. ill just host the game myself, apperently you can set up a password, so no one but my friends can join. in fact, im already in a game like that and am hosting a seperate one. so if it will make you all feel better, i wont play with you, and you dont have to play with me.

hey jake...what you and your friend "dan" are doing is called metagaming. You already decided to be allies before the game even started regardless of your starting position. To make it fair for everyone else(those who have to work for allies) i would suggest playing in different games and coach him from the sidelines by watching the game instead of being in it.

submariner you need to chill...if you make another thread about anything regarding multis before talking to a mod about the situation people arent gonna want to play with you and if they do it will only to be because they want to knock you out of that game.

Hey, don't worry about it. Submariner is just a big baby who already has a reputation for accusing anyone who is smarter than him of multi-accounting and trying to get them banned. No one even takes him seriously any more. (See "Boy who cried wolf" thread.) It's all part of his bully tactics. He uses the thread he creates to get others in the game not to trust you.

ok, like i said i dont need to play with you all, i just wanted a fast game to show dan how to play. and you dont need to put his name in quotes, he is real. I'll just stick to playing with my friends, thats more than half the fun anyway. Meta-gaming? it would be just my luck to unwittingly break two rules in one day. just excelent. well, thanks for the advice WhiteSammy, now that i know the rules I wont break them. though i still say that what I did wasnt cheating, as in my mind helping a friend isnt cheating. but here i guess thats not the popular opinnion, so i will respect the way you all view this, and in that light, not "cheat" again.

Well you should probably worry about it a little, because coming in as a "reliable ally" is against the rules. You can play with your friend as long as you will treat everyone fairly. But if its a preordained alliance then thats not fair to the other players in the game. But that doesn't mean you should abandon the game either because again its not fair. I try to follow the "don't be a douchbag" rule. That being said, Submariner needs to calm down and possibly relate to the DBADB rule himself.

Of course I am going to get a hard time from at least 1 idiot on the site who is going to immediately going to accuse me of meta-gaming, but anyway, I think this may help clarify for Jake.

I have played in the same game as my friends, and had an alliance with one of them. However, the alliance was only because it was beneficial to both of us and I stabbed him in the back the second it was no longer advantageous for me. As long as you go into a game with the intention of only making alliances that are helpful to both players that is ok. I have gone into a game and attacked my friend right off the start. Lets be honest most of us on this site probably heard about it from a friend and have played in a game or 2 with that friend which is fine as long as the 2 players do not form alliances any differently then they would with any other players.

and Submariner, chill out. We do not want to scare new players away. Try talking to people before running to a Moderator with every little problem.

Exactly Jmo. Thats perfectly acceptable. I find that I'm actually more likely to attack friends out of competiveness myself.

Its only a problem when people think its funny to all plan to join a game and just team up on unsuspecting players for shits.

Well, there isn't anything to suggest that Jack is lying. I'll keep tabs and check in later just to be sure it isn't multi accounting.

Jack, in the future, you shouldn't log into accounts for your mates if you're in a game with them. Also, it's fine for you to play with your friends, just be ready to stab them like you would any other stranger, otherwise you put other players at an unfair disadvantage.
