Can an unsupported navy unit convoy when it has been atatcked by another unit?
http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=11227

Check out the English Channel move... I would not have thought this was allowable as the naval units 'activity' for the round is defending the ENG, rather than defending AND convoying. Can a moderator cvheck this out please?

RE: Late-game betrayal
I wanted the opinion of more experienced players about my betraying Germany in this game http://www.phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=9966, was I wrong to betray him for the win or was it his fault for leaving himself exposed to an attack from me?

Fast Game on the Weekend?
Anyone interested in a real-time game this Sun afternoon? (NA time)
I'm thinking of passwording it - for people who will commit to finalizing orders promptly only. (I quite agree that a shorter time limit would be nice.)
And let's have a straw poll for what the ante in should...
ALAMO (317 D)
28 May 09 UTC
I would play...how about 101 for the ante...so that they have to be experienced players

how about 27 pt buy-in...i'll enter orders, i promise....
i just really want to play in a game where i don't have to wait so long just for others to move.
Crazyter (1335 D(G))

I would agree to play this weekend but an afternoon is not long enough, even for 15 min cycles. I played 3 games last weekend, they each took 12-24 hours even tho most cycles were 15 mins. (I admit some people went CD and that slowed each cycle to an hour for awhile)

Heres what I propose:
We begin Sat late morning and agree in advance to pause times. I recommend after 4 hours there should be a 1 hour break for meals, etc. and after 8-12 hours there should be a pause until the next day. Everyone agrees to these rules and no one cheats and unpauses like they did last weekend, so they can win while everyone else is asleep.

So I would like to play a weekend game and finish this weekend but with some breaks for eating and sleeping. I will be looking for 6 other players who agree to these conditions in advance befroe the game starts.

eh. i would love to play a fast game without waiting for 24 hours..but a lot of people (myself included) have quite busy schedules.
Can we start..umm Saturday afternoon would be best.
idealist (680 D)

and once we have 7. we can work out a scheduling that could work for all of us

Hey, i'd really like to play a fast game, see what it's like. I'm on GMT time tho and would need to sleep etc, other than that i promise i wouldn't go CD can't quite afford 101 points tho
Razz (144 D)

I'll vouch for Crazyter and Alamo, both were great about getting orders in in a timely manner.

I disagree, though about finishing it in an afternoon, Ter .. if people stick to the 15 minute turn, a game should typically be over in 3 - 3 /12 hours.

Early morning US seems to be the best time to start if you have players from both US and Europe.
Crazyter (1335 D(G))

Razz you might be right and if we finish Sat afternoon thats wonderful, but I don't want to join the game unless we all commit to what happens if we don't finish Sat afternoon.

Idealist-would love to have you aboard. The reason I don't want to set up the scheduling later is that we tried that in 3 games last weekend and people finked out on the terms later by "unpausing", etc.

I propose we start on Sat about 10 AM EST and in the pre-game everyone promises to abide by the same terms. If Razz is right we won't even need to use some of the terms, but they will be my security blanket. If we cant agree ot the terms in the pre-game, I will go CD immediately and let someone take over before the game even starts.

I will set it up for 10 AM Sat with a pause around 6 PM and continuing if necessary on Sunday at Noon. We have to be realistic. People think a game can be played in 3-4 hours but think about it. A game-year takes 3 to 6 turns including builds and retreats . Say 4 turns per average game-year. SO in 4 hours we can be done with 1904 even when we stick to the 15 min limit. Every game I've played lasts until 1910, that is 10 hours approximately, if everyone always sticks to the 15 in limit.

LanGaidin, and others... that's two of us for Sun still. But sounds like there were lots of games today. I'll check in around 12:30 and see if we have got 7..

Hello!
We paused the game for memorial day weekend, and now have two players who won't unpause. One is in possession of no supply centers, the other is just incommunicado.

How (exactly) does the '/draw' voting work?
Do draw votes expire? (I assume not)
When exactly are they processed with respect to ending the game? (The message appears immediately, but does that mean that the last vote to draw ends the game immediately? Or at end of the next turn? end of the next build phase?)

Can you still dislodge your own unit as you can dislodge and force retreat another persons unit? Not sure if this is a bug that might have been fixed.

guide to special cases
Is there a nice guide to special cases and examples of this and that country configuration and set of orders somewhere? I read the manual at diplom.org and it didn't resolve it.

My question is if A1 supports A2 into B, but B attacks A1 and A2 is also dislodged, does A2 go into B?

Support question
Probably a real n00b question, but it has been years since I played Dip regularly. Can one country support-hold another country that is itself executing a support action, or does support-hold only apply to a country that is truly holding?
